Keen's ( http://www.keens.com/). They've been around since 1885. If you go, get the mutton chop. It's fantastic (I must had it at least 10 times in the last 2 years). Wolfgang's is a good imitation of the famous Peter Luger, and you don't need to drag yourself to brooklyn (Wolfgang was Lugar's former head waiter). It's NYC - you never need to decide between the mafia or movie stars - cause those are just other people, of which the city has many.
Two excellent choices, I was about to post these two but saw you had beat me to it. I also like Bobby Vann's. For more affordable steaks, meaning like $20-$25 as opposed to $40-$75, I'd suggest "Les Halles" or "Steak Frites" in Union Sq
If you like Indian food, "Tamarind" is excellent. If you like upscale farm-to-plate type food, "Rouge Tomate" is great (and on savored.com for 30% off).
Thanks for all the suggestions guys I will have to look those up. It doesn't look like the weather will be bad while we are there either so we won't freeze walking around lol.
We made it! Had an awesome time. We got to the hotel around 10ish on friday. The cab ride took forever and ended up costing like $65. The driver didn't speak a word of english and just talked on his bluetooth (through the car speakers) the whole time. Not the most enjoyable ride lol. But other than that we had a great time. We used the subway for everything except the ride back to the airport which we took another cab and it was a much more pleasant experience as well as much cheaper. We saw Spiderman on broadway and really enjoyed it. Towards the end there was a lot more singing than I preferred BUT the end made up for it bigtime. Lots of high flying parts to the show, Spiderman and The Green Goblin flew all around the theater. Ended the show great it was really entertaining. Ate at serafinas as well as Steak Frites, went to wall street, central park, battery park, 9/11 memorial, canal st, china town, and quite a few other places. All in all we had a great time. Thanks for the suggestions from everybody, especially on where to eat. We really enjoyed both places.
yelp review but I would have written the same thing 'It is what it is...less than $10 (including tax) to split a meal between two people, including salad, baked potato, a steak 'n onions. The steak was small, dry, and tasteless, the salad was just a bunch of leaves and two fat tomatoes on top (extra charge for that), and the baked potato was just that-it costs extra for any additional toppings. Oh, and the garlic bread was pretty good, but nothing amazing. Btw, they really don't advertise how every little thing costs extra, so watch out for that. If you're looking for a cheap place to dine, and wanting to get some iron, drop by here. It's like those cheap steaks at Denny's, etc.'
