going from office to trading at home

  1. STrongly suggest listening to a squawk box of some sort. I prefer my friend, Ben Lichtensteins's www.tradersaudio.com (I don't recommend anyone lightly, he's good).

Much more than just numbers more quickly, keeps you aware of what's going on, who's buying, selling, ....do a free trial.

An online room of peers is also a good idea to keep you in the game.

    FWIW,

thats a good idea Don. I presently use the Lightspeed squack box which I like very much if I end up switching front ends then I will look into other options. BTW what i find is interesting is that my Lightspeed works much better at home then it did at the office, I guess they did not have enough bandwidth

  3. All it comes down to is learning how to create boundaries.

It needs to be mutual boundaries too - if your kids get home from school and you are still working you need to go back to work and give them their time - just like they need to learn they can't barge into your office yelling and screaming because "dad is working".

Avoid Whole Foods or Trader Joe's around lunch time - ESPECIALLY if they are located in close proximity to a yoga studio. Too many hot moms around and it'll offer too much temptation :D

I will probably eventually look into taking space. I am very concerned about the junk-food, although their was plenty at my old office as well. In some ways being able to make a quick healthy lunch like eggs or chicken on the George Forman is good for me

  7. Just as it takes discipline to trade, it takes discipline not to indulge in bad habits at home especially during trading (overeating, alcohol , drugs, porn, sleeping in late too much, lack of exercise, diking around on pointless internet sites too much .... :) oh wait

Thats what i found. I make some considerable amount of money. No John Arnold here, but make a good living, enough and then some.

Recently went to a small 400sq.foot office. one of those executive suites. I like the ritual, the short drive(must be a short drive), the receptionist, greeting other business owners/entrepreneurs in the hallways. etc. It has some good benefits.
