Oh no. I left out a couple words. And now I have reworded it: What is LIFE? For the Christian it is the soul, and spirit and it lives apart from the body. The Bible talks of two types *of resurrection, one for eternal life and one for eternal destruction. God will reunite each spirit with its prior body. The bodies will be changed according to their destination. And many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, but others to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:2 BSB
You do know that 'death' and 'being under anesthesia' aren't numbers, right? Death is not equivalent to being under general anesthesia. This is an obvious point. Nor is there any evidence that they can be meaningfully compared. We will simply agree to disagree.
Only on this website of elite traders does something so silly need debate. https://www.quora.com/Is-death-a-bit-like-general-anesthesia Again, we'll have to agree to disagree if you can't wrap your brain around this "deep" subject.
Dudes, why is this still a debate? We don't need scientists to confirm OUR OWN EXPERIENCES. When you fall asleep at night, do you know that moment? No. When you wake up, do you remember your "dreams"? Sometimes yes, and sometimes no. The only reason you know that you are alive that morning is because you remember the fact that you do or do not not remember your dreams! Dudes!
Dr. Richard D. Lumsden, a former atheist professor, explains some of the scientific reasons that led him to turn from evolution and atheism to belief in creation and God. He received the H.B. Ward Medal in 1975. The qualifications for this award are as follows: Qualifications. The recipient shall be a member of the Society for no less than three years at the time of the nomination and mid-career, and who, by self-directed investigations, shall have attained a position of leadership in some phase of parasitological research. The field of parasitology is considered to include, in general, those aspects of the science which are represented by reports published in the official organ of the Society, the Journal of Parasitology. https://www.k-state.edu/parasitology/wardmedal.html
Unfortunately, the techniques the student used won't work on many of the 'minds' found in this forum.
I knew that when I posted the video. The student and professor had a 3 hour conversation. I'm guessing that most who click on this thread will hardly read an entire post if it's long or watch a video that challenges their beliefs. It seems that they aren't even considering the possibility that their belief in nothingness could be wrong, so they aren't willing to put time OR thought into investigation. Even the few atheists that do read and post on here seem like they aren't even considering the possibility that God exists. But they do make this thread more interesting. I'd rather have atheists to discuss with than nobody.
Charles Spurgeon is another one of my favorite pastors. He lived in the late 1800's. This is an excerpt from his sermon on going out and inviting ALL to come to the King based on the story Jesus told Luke 14:16-23. https://www.spurgeon.org/resource-library/sermons/compel-them-to-come-in/#flipbook/ Come, I am not to be put off by your rebuffs; if my exhortation fails, I must come to something else. My brother, I entreat you, I entreat you stop and consider. Do you know what it is you are rejecting this morning? You are rejecting Christ, your only Saviour. "Other foundation can no man lay;" "there is none other name given among men whereby we must be saved." My brother, I cannot bear that ye should do this, for I remember what you are forgetting: the day is coming when you will want a Saviour. It is not long ere weary months shall have ended, and your strength begin to decline; your pulse shall fail you, your strength shall depart, and you and the grim monster—death, must face each other. What will you do in the swellings of Jordan without a Saviour? Death-beds are stony things without the Lord Jesus Christ. It is an awful thing to die anyhow; he that hath the best hope, and the most triumphant faith, finds that death is not a thing to laugh at. It is a terrible thing to pass from the seen to the unseen, from the mortal to the immortal, from time to eternity, and you will find it hard to go through the iron gates of death without the sweet wings of angels to conduct you to the portals of the skies. It will be a hard thing to die without Christ. I cannot help thinking of you.
His argument in the video was evolution is "not making good scientific sense" which seems like an appeal to authority. So the video wasn't trying to convince doubters and was simply preaching to the choir.
