I guess I'll research this, but in the mean time, know that it is not unusual for the same country, to invade the same country, more than once. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_invasions
After we exit this rabbit hole, it'll be my turn to ask you about a fulfilled prophecy. Like a pro chess match, we'll likely follow a standard opening before diverging. I found one in Reddit: 8bitpenguin, This prophecy actually was fulfilled, with absolutely remarkable accuracy. It is probably one of the prophecies in the bible that is the hardest to refute by calling it a "lucky guess". The misunderstanding stems mostly from the fact that there was actually another city called Old Tyre on the mainland, against which most of these prophecies were fulfilled (The ones who weren't fulfilled against Old Tyre, were fulfilled against New Tyre). You could perhaps dismiss this as a Christian trying to grasp at straws if it wasn't for the fact that every single part of the prophecy, down to the most obscure strange detail, was completely fulfilled if you not only consider New Tyre (which is the island you refer to) but Old Tyre on the mainland. https://apologeticspress.org/tyre-in-prophecy-1790/ Specific line: www.reddit.com/r/DebateAChristian/comments/2c2ka7/on_ezekiels_prophecies_about_nebuchadnezzar/cjbi33v/ Complete line: Additionally: https://evidenceforchristianity.org...t-nebuchadnezzar-and-egypt-was-not-fulfilled/ https://defendinginerrancy.com/bible-solutions/Jeremiah_43.8-13.php
It's nice to get reasonable question asked, for a change. Thanks for pointing out the apparent contradiction! And thanks to userque for doing the legwork to reveal that the Bible was right!
What many don't realize is that "The Bible" is a collection of scriptures assembled by man. Scriptures that were written during different timeframes. Some legitimate questions are, (and correct me if I'm wrong): Are all of the scriptures included in The Bible, the inspired words of God, or sanctioned by God? Are there inspired or sanctioned scriptures outside of The Bible collection we currently use? Many also don't realize, imo, that the original scriptures were not written in English, and plenty of errors in translation exist in the translated Bibles of today. Some of these man-made errors result in contradictions/confusion in interpretation. Many also don't realize that it was a different culture when the scriptures were written. The words they used then, are different that what we use today. Land masses, countries, empires, and rivers may have had different names. Armchair pundits rarely exercise due diligence before jumping to conclusions. This is especially so of the atheist/agnostic, when it comes to religion. For me, I looked around and said, "No, this was not the result of random chance, from building blocks with built in 'programming,' which just 'banged' into existence, from nothing. It's too beautiful. It fits together too well. It's too complicated. A creator exists." I then said, "I suspect a creator would leave us a message." I then said, "There are a multitude of religions, 'bibles,' etc. Which to choose?" Only one Bible set forth prophecies that were later fulfilled; including some historical accounts that were corroborated by modern science. I still recall studying the prophecy that Jewish people would be scattered about the world; and their eventually return to, and nationalizing of their homeland. The risk/reward associated with being a believer is unbeatable. ________________________
Which begs the legitimate question, why stop there? Why didn't you look around any further, to say, "No, a creator was not the result of random chance either, was not from building blocks with built in 'programming,' which just 'banged' into existence, from nothing. It's too beautiful. It fits together too well. It's too complicated. For a creator to exist, it too needs a creator."
I did, I just didn't post an autobiography here. I posted a simplification of 'how it started' for me. Maybe it's helpful to some; maybe not. But it is what it is.
No need for an autobiography. Another simplification of 'how it started' after looking further would be of interest or help to some, or maybe not. otherwise a dodge is what it is
My post was voluntary, and no one asked for it--including you, so it can't be a 'dodge' that I didn't include more details that you would have liked to read about. If you have a question that doesn't call for a narrative response, ask it. I may answer; or I may choose not to get more personal than I already have.
To be fair, I already asked a question that doesn't call for a narrative in response. I asked a reasonable legitimate question which is left begging, from what you said after 'looking around'. You didn't dodge the question because you didn't include enough or more detail. You dodged it because the content of your response avoided answering it, save for for excuses about psots being voluntary and amount of details. Just so we're clear.
You asked: I answered: You then asked for a narrative response here (emphasis added). Once again, if you have questions that don't call for narrative responses, feel free to ask.
