  2. The Middle Class are long over due to whats coming to them; the chickens are coming home to roost. It's the middle class who foolishly wanted to live beyond their means, with the biggest house possible and the largest, least fuel-efficient SUV, which resulted in the subprime crisis and accompanying liar loans. They have a sense of entitlement which needs to be squashed. This Obama's proposal of giving free $1,000 checks to familes because the oil companies are an easy target is proof. The middle class never stops to consider that perhaps oil has been significantly under priced all these years. Not to mention the profit margins on big oil are rather reasonable. To the middle class I say no one is entitled to shit. They must work hard for it, and then, when its affordable, can reap what they sowed.

  3. I once upon a time supported Obama, but I cannot anymore as this philosophy of Obama and his die-hard supporters becomes more apparent.

  4. Welcome to the world of civil discourse. That's the best part of ET.

  5. The choice is a simple one.

    Vote for Don Rickles or
    vote for Jesus.

  6. Your typical middle class person hardly pays anything in taxes under the current system. The "rich" already pay way more than their share.

  7. Speaking as someone who shielded my income through a corporation, you're absolutely wrong. One year I paid 19%, and I could have paid less if I had structured things differently.

  8. The following stats support what I meant when when I stated that the rich already pay more than their fair share. Certain individuals obviously find ways around paying. It is a major reason why the Laffer Curve exists (higher taxes often yield lower revenues, depending on the level of the starting rate.).

    A) top 1% earns 19% of income and pays 37% of taxes. FACT.

    B) Top 10% earns 44%, pays 68% of taxes paid. FACT.

    C) Bottom 50%, earns only 13% of the income. BUT, pay only 3% of taxes. FACT.

  9. You really ought to site your sources for the numbers you're using, otherwise its just more bull shit.

I'm a little curious if the “income” stats you're using include all compensation people receive as payment for services rendered.

  10. What I find even MORE bizarre about proposing a Windfall Profits Tax is the fact that XOM only produces 3% of the world's oil. How can they be a PRICE MAKER when they only produce 3% of the world's oil?

So we tax them for windfall profits?
Doesn't make an ounce of sense.
