GM now says it may not have the cash to finish '08 - do not buy a GM car!

  1. Only socialist or communist countries have the problem of "too big to fail"; so there goes with revolution.

Are you saying that US is a socialist /communist country?

  2. Saving job creation machines such as the automakers and suppliers, which disproportionately assists the middle class (which, in turn, propels consumer spending), is vastly more efficient than bailing out Wall Street and its legion of paper pushers.

Goldman Sachs will pay out 12 billion in BONUSES this year. That's 1/3 of what the Big Three is asking for.

Think about it: Wall Street is getting a Trillion Dollars...given that perspective, is an open mind willing to consider 1/40th of that amount to attempt to save over 4 million jobs?

I'd choose none, but if none is an option, save the jobs.

This is a tricky one. GM needs to go fail and restructure, but I'm not sure now is the time.

  4. Maybe but the net unemployment payments may be lower than the bailout payouts being proposed. The US auto's don't provide either a critical service or monopoly service and have no logical reason to be supported.

Problem is, once you bail out Peter, you have to bail out Paul and Mary. Then Ringo, John and George show up asking for money. Eventually, you realize you never should have fed the dog from the table, because once you've started there's no end to it.

  7. Which is why if the auto industry gets no money, then the banks don't get any either. Given the choice I'd let GS and AIG go down first. They provide no value to our economy at this point.
If blue collar America has to suffer then so so the white collar MBA motherfuckers that created the mess in the first place. LET ROME BURN!!!!

  8. GM should just go away. They've been a major disaster and disgrace to our economy. Their management heirarchy is built so that their top-tier officers make millions every year while the company is losing money for a decade!!!!!!! wtf....and truly wtf. what the shit business model is this???? spending all their money in suckering up to govt agencies to bail out their ass instead of making a decent car. This is so sick and i'll never ever buy a car from GM. even if I get a free GM car, I'll ride the shit out of it only to prove how shitty it is. fvck GM and just die already, so America can move on.

  10. Okay... There are several ships in an ocean with icebergs.. a couple of ships keep hitting icebergs again and again... What "should" you do???? TAKE THE CREW FROM THE WAYWARD SHIPS (GM) AND PUT THEM IN THE BETTER SHIPS!!

If they get bailed out they better be forced to accept double CAFE (corporate economy) standards!! They have lobbied and resisted aggressive economy standards all these years... Even all these SUV's skirt so many rules cars don't... Once again Lobbying and policy in Washington has endorsed GM's ineptitude...

Someone here did have a point though... Some will simply never buy anything from GM or Ford no matter what.. Reminds me of what happened in Motorcycles..
