Biggest mistake GM ever made was dropping it. Second biggest was the styling of the last generation Camaro/Firebird. Unfortunately, the concept Camaro, while mercifully not as ugly as the last generation, looks like an old Dodge Challenger. Also has definite Mustang styling cues. Here's a hint GM. Since you obviously can't design a decent looking car, just drag out some old blueprints from 1969/70 and replicate those Camaros with modern mechanicals. Worked for BMW with the MiniCooper.
Good commentary, triple A. However, to be fair, GM didn't voluntarily ruin the sleek & unique front end styling on the last generation Camaro. The government made some kind of law against recessed headlights, and GM was forced to comply.
I know a kid that is doing a Mechanical Engineering internship on the Camaro project... I need to talk to him...
Now THIS is a cool Camaro. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=107880 Be sure to play the vid.
This is why I say the concept car looks like a Challenger. http://www.uniqueperformance.com/challenger.aspx Of course, the Challenger was a knock off of a '69 Camaro.
A Camaro was my first car. Glad to see GM getting their act together. My folks just bought a Caddy STS. Really a sweet car.
