GlobalFinancier's Picks

Discussion in 'Journals' started by GlobalFinancier, Dec 9, 2005.

  1. Well, AAUK looks nice, but it seems that it is an ADR, maybe there's currency risk involved for one. But that's likely to be minimal in the short term. Then again, over the long run, owning something with currency risk might not be the best idea, as the data does seem to be favourable for the USD as of now(strong economy, more evidence for rate hikes, Helicopter Ben wishing to establish his credibility etc)
Still bullish on the markets. Oil is easing after reaching the 38.2% Fibo retracement line hmm...
RGLD still looks undervalued as other gold stocks like NEM are going through the roof.

  2. GF like the picks i been reading your stuff whenever you post.

One thing on the gold and mining stocks though

I own alot of them but have found that just playing GLD keeps you away from the firm specific risk.

Read about how Barrick Gold CORP ABX. They will be losing like 1 billion in the futures on bad hedges, BVN did the same and got crushed for it. They have been reducing there hedging postion but last two quarters they messed this up. Just being safe but it hurt performance.

Those who hedge have predicable growth strategies but the market is running them like they have no hedges at all with these momentum players jumping in. Then numbers come out and stocks get crushed.

GF I'm about to post my portfolio as a NEW post and would like you to criticize it THKS.

It does look like a nice buy done here ABX or FCX

Money supply explodes, spot gold fell to $547 and jumped back up. Bullish.

  6. CME and AX look good. $costaverage drew my attention to AX. Cup and handle breakout.
CME has a base that I can't put my finger on. I feel and know it is one, but I can't name it, weird.
    OXPS is a watch.
PCU may be a speculative bottom, heard about very negative sentiment on this stock. I'm directionless on copper though, so this is speculative.

  8. RGLD up 7.82% today :). Sometimes the market IS inefficient and stupid, you just have to find and exploit those chances.
    OXPS breakout, bullish.
