don't know how to answer this. i thought it was clear that we are talking about civilisation, human life and these other little things we use to call "our" world. if your concern is this planet as a piece of matter, or maybe bacteria ... well sure. then there is no reason to worry about warming, starvation, nuclear war, terror, hurricanes and all these other things we, the enivro nuts, use to worry about. next time before you post, wait for a thought passing by. even if it takes weeks.
I understand you have probably been breathing too much CO2 for a while now, but stop and think about something: what makes you think we have all this control over our environment and our future? Did the dinosaurs make green house gasses? did they litter? yet they are no longer here are they..why? let the debate rage but most believe a giant rock hit the earth and blocked out the sun... What about the sabertooth tigers and the wooly mammoth? did they use mercury or lead? yet....they both came and went... Now let's look at all the stuff that has happened in modern times? for all the talk about hurricanes and supposedly being from global warming...its NOTHING compared to what's going on world wide with earthquakes...remember the tsunami? about 300k killed.....now look at all the other quakes happening around the world in Iran and the far east..... Get real and stop with your hypocritical crap . we don't know how long we are here for or why we landed in this little gap in the earths history...yet you think we are destroying civilization through greenhouse gasses? I already proved you were a hypocrite but please don't prove your naive as well. Humans do not own this time..its just on lease until the next event...and warming is nothing compared to the real disasters....like when the next large rock hits or the next volcano blows ( which one single eruption puts out more sulfur dioxide then the history of mankind combined)
EarthQuakes, Tsunamis, etc are a puny effect compared to the repercusions that GW would entail. All of those events are local effects and kill say one million people. GW has the potential to irradicate half to seventy five percent of the species on the planet for a thousand years (although new ones would thrive). How that imbalance (all species are interrelated) will affect the rest of the species that survive it is an experiment we don't want to run. But your logic is flawed. There is nothing we can do about earthqquakes or other acts of "God" because AFAIK there is no human forcing in the cause of earthquakes etc. Assuming that 80% of the modern forcing in GW is attributable to human beings (I am using the word assuming for your sake, not mine - I have no doubts that GW in the last 200 years is due 90% to human forcing), then by definition by not doing or by reducing what we do as human beings to cause the forcing, we can start to reverse the process. nitro
first of all, thank you for your post. now let me respond. could be, could be. i will stop it. did you read "science for kids" recently? sounds a little like that. i mean who on earth would compare dinosaurs and meteors to humans and global warming. some more "science ..."? what exactly does one have to do with the other? i might hold gun to my head and still not have figured out why i was born. does that make the bullit less lethal? sorry. that part .. i missed. please elaborate on your "proof" ..., all yours. do i sense a little fatalism here? we might not "own" this time, but we might change it, right? i mean we did a little so far, didn't we?
i tried to think of a response that sounds like "get real and stop with your ..." but then i can really not get how i could describe your point of view. actually i'd rather say you have none. it is more like a predefined stance and you are taking ingredients from here and there to justify it.
What don't you get? you said "we missed our chance"...That seems to be a little fatalism there no? Do you read what you write? Hypocrite? We already proved your part of the toxic generation and we had that timely article about the chemicals (lead, mercury, and other bad ass stuff) that goes into your trading computer... There is NO PROOF what so ever about what the effects of GW would be in 200 years from now...the earth has gone through hot and cold periods....the bigger threat to man is not if its warmer....its the land masses moving and shaking.
flawed in which aspect? Mr. Man said we missed our chance...Im pointing out that 'Mother Earth" is bigger then all of us and for all of this worry and debate, we are one big rock away from men leaving and roaches coming back..
Your assumptions are flawed. The UN itself says that cattle are a bigger problem. "29 November 2006 â Cattle-rearing generates more global warming greenhouse gases, as measured in CO2 equivalent, than transportation, and smarter production methods, including improved animal diets to reduce enteric fermentation and consequent methane emissions, are urgently needed, according to a new United Nations report released today." from http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=20772&Cr=global&Cr1=warming read the entire story to see just how insignif man is when compared to cattle manure. Let's face it. All this business about the debate being over is cattle manure.
FHL brings up a good point....ya have a bunch of traders on ET and a bunch of Lawyers in DC talking and debating GW and other issues based on.....a google search! LMFAO...he, I'll at least admit it, but give me a break...scientist are not completely sure, but as long as we GOOGLE it, well...that;s enough for me is the mentality
