  1. meanwhile temps in alaska are unusually warm today. sometimes its almost as if et is populated by 20 year old 5th graders.

Arctic sea ice was at its lowest extent in January compared with any other time in the last 32 years, according to a new report by the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC).

This winter has been cold and snowy in North America, but farther north, temperatures have been unusually warm. Data collected by NASA's Aqua satellite shows that ice was low in Canada's Hudson Bay, Hudson Strait and the Davis Strait between Canada and Greenland. Normally these areas are frozen over by late November, the NSIDC reported. This winter, they didn't free until mid-January 2011. The Labrador Sea was similarly ice-free.

  2. There's a world of difference between causing and contributing. Human activity certainly plays a role in climate changes, but does it have any real impact in a major way? The jury is still out on that, and if human activity is the major factor then you/they still need to explain all the dramatic climate changes that occurred when there were no humans at all.
One can make a pretty good argument that Sun Spots play a bigger role, but it's kinda' hard to contact the "sun people" and tell them to stop it or we'll have to levy a tax. And at the end of the day, it's more about taxes and control than it is about the temperature.

    It's not 'zealotry' at all.

You are the zealot insisting that you 'know' global warming is 'bullshit'. It is religious zealots who want to sell others on the idea that they have all the answers and cannot be questioned or challenged. "....fearing not I'd become my enemy in the instant that I preach.."

I, on the other hand, am not insisting that I have the answers. I'm saying there is very strong evidence that we (humans) are causing global warming. And yes it can be explained and tested. Could the theory be wrong? of course, but don't shut down the debate and ignore the evidence.

OK, Olias. Take a look at the charts on this PDF and see if it doesn't cast some doubt on your belief in man made global warming. You won't even have to read the article. Just look at the charts. You might want to read the short conclusion at the end.

It's a new paradigm. Didn't you get Al's memo? Cold is the new Hot. Don't worry though, all you need to do is replace the world cold with the world hot and you're good to go.
