Global Warming Is Dead - RIP AGW

Ever since, the hockey stick model has been one of the main targets of climate skeptics. After all, if the current global warming is unprecedented in the past 1,000 years, that would signal the need to do something to reverse it. The scientists involved have been under constant attack, as Mann documented in his book "The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars."

However, a string of subsequent studies by a number of scientific groups from around the world have all yielded essentially the same result. Most recently, a paper published in the journal Nature Geoscience this week — co-authored by 78 experts from 60 scientific institutions from around the world — found yet another hockey stick. Their temperature reconstruction shows a slow slide into a future ice age ending abruptly with a sharp rise in temperatures in the 19th and 20th centuries. Recent global surface temperatures are probably the warmest in the past 1,400 years.

For the clueless or cynical diehards who deny global warming, it’s getting awfully cold out there.
The latest icy blast of reality comes from an eminent scientist whom the climate-change skeptics once lauded as one of their own. Richard Muller, a respected physicist at the University of California, Berkeley, used to dismiss alarmist climate research as being “polluted by political and activist frenzy.” Frustrated at what he considered shoddy science, Muller launched his own comprehensive study to set the record straight. Instead, the record set him straight.

“Global warming is real,” Muller wrote last week in The Wall Street Journal.

Muller and his colleagues examined five times as many temperature readings as did other researchers — a total of 1.6 billion records — and now have put that merged database online. The results have not yet been subjected to peer review, so technically they are still preliminary. But Muller’s plain-spoken admonition that “you should not be a skeptic, at least not any longer” has reduced many deniers to incoherent grumbling or stunned silence.

More tripe from our resident AGW alarmist. In fact, that article was written by people from the AGW Alarmist website skepticalscience.com. The first thing we need to realize is that the period we are in now of global cooling has lasted longer than the brief period of warming after the cooling period from 1940 to about 1980. The Hockey Stick from Michael Mann is a contrived chart by those wanting to keep the billions of dollars flowing to them from the government. As the quotes I presented in an earlier post show.

This is a REAL scientific study that points to decreased solar activity in the future and global cooling ahead. One just needs to realize we are seeing cooling temperatures over the last 17 years with last winter and spring breaking cold records around the world to see who has their facts straight.

Abstract: Recently a new low-noise record of solar activity has been reconstructed for the past 9.400 years by combining two 10 Be records from Greenland and Antarctica with 14 C from tree rings [F. Steinhilber et al., 2012]. This record confirms earlier results, namely that the Sun has varied with distinct periodicities in the past. We present a prediction of mean solar magnetic activity averaged over 22 years for the next 500 years mainly based on the spectral information derived from the record of the past solar activity. Assuming that the Sun will continue varying with the same periodicities for the next centuries we extract the spectral information from the past and apply it in two different methods to predict the future of solar magnetic activity. First, the two methods are tested by predicting past changes. Our methods are able to predict periods of high and low solar activity for a few centuries in the past. However, they are less successful in predicting the correct amplitude. Then, the methods were used to predict the period 2000-2500. Both methods predict a period of low activity around 2100 AD. Between 2100 AD and 2350 AD the results are inconsistent regarding the duration of the low activity state in 2100 AD and the level of activity until 2250 AD. Around 2250 AD both methods predict a period of moderate activity. After 2350 AD both methods point to a period of high activity. The period of high activity will end around 2400 AD and will be followed by a period of moderate activity.

This rate of warming has never been seen before in the historical record. Wanna know why? Because there has never been 9 billion tons of CO2 per year being put into the atmosphere.........and CO2 levels largely control global climate......because it's a greenhouse gas.

You don't even realize that NOAA changed the baseline around 1980 without updating the previous data that gave global warming an artificial boost in the data.

This is the work of a group of people (I don't dare call them real scientists) who are making up the AGW non-science in order to keep the billions of dollars in research funds flowing their way and to build a political agenda for the left. That's all it is and it has been proven to you time and again.

The Sun is the Main Driver of Climate Change and Global Warming or Cooling say Friends of Science – Not You or 400 ppm CO2

Carbon dioxide (CO2) levels reported to have reached 400 ppm at Mauna Loa Observatory sent climate change activists like James Hansen, Al Gore, 350.org and Scientific American into a frenzy but Friends of Science say solar and ocean cycles are the main drivers of climate change, not CO2. With no global warming in 16 years despite a rise in CO2, the role of declining water vapor in upper atmosphere partially negates the ‘heat-trapping’ effect of CO2.

The UK Met Office global temperature index shows no warming trend for the last 16 years, a period when 33% of all human-caused CO2 emissions since the industrial revolution occurred.

“The sun and other oceanic oscillations affect climate change and global warming most significantly, not CO2,” says Len Maier, President of Friends of Science. “We urge the public to remain calm; there’s been no global warming in 16 years.”

Friends of Science point out that the 350 or 400 ppm marker of CO2 in the air is one that has been made up arbitrarily.

“The volume of CO2 in the air is miniscule – 4 molecules in 10,000,” says Ken Gregory, director of Friends of Science. “What is relevant is how water vapor and clouds respond to the small initial warming caused by increasing CO2. NOAA calls upper atmosphere water vapor, the ‘wild card’ in global warming.”

Gregory goes on to explain that declining upper atmosphere water vapor was never considered in the original anthropogenic global warming theory.

"Water vapor is by far the most important green house gas,” says Gregory, author of many topics on climate science. "Both radiosonde and satellite data shows declining upper atmosphere water vapor which more than compensates for increasing water vapor in the lower atmosphere.”

Gregory explains that climate models falsely assume water vapor and clouds amplify the CO2 effect three fold, but they actually counteract the CO2 effect.

“This is one reason why there has been no warming in 16 years," says Gregory.

Friends of Science point to the solar cycles and associated oceanic oscillations as keys to understanding climate change.

"We have over three thousand years of evidence, tracking solar sunspot cycles that correlate well to cyclical climate patterns,” says Gregory. “Numerous studies show very high correlation between solar-magnetic activity and global temperature, yet these solar effects are not included in any climate model. All solar warming is misattributed to CO2 in the climate models."

Friends of Science also note that ‘heat-trapping gas’ is an inaccurate description, popular in the media and frightening to the public.

""Heat-trapping gas" is a bad description because the CO2 molecule does not trap heat,” says Gregory. “CO2 absorbs a photon of long-wave radiation, and immediately gives up the energy to surrounding air molecules, or emits a photon.”

Friends of Science point out that there is a huge public relations machine behind global warming alarmists. The charge is lead by high-profile personalities like Al Gore, James Hansen, Robert Redford and Darryl Hannah.

“Yet how many policy makers, members of the public or Scientific American for that matter, have ever read the works of scientists like Svensmark, Veizer, Shaviv, Casey, Ziegler or seen their video presentations?” asks Gregory. “These scientists take a much more evidence-based approach to assessing factors in climate change.”

“Bad science equals bad policy,” says Len Maier. “We see how extreme climate change policies have crippled Europe. There is now a powerful rejectionist movement across the EU to stop wind farms, cancel carbon trades and abandon climate change policies.”

Europe’s rush to renewables and green energy left Britain virtually powerless during an extreme cold snap this spring when their 4,500 wind turbines could only produce 0.3% of the nation’s power requirement one cold day. Recently a new climate skeptic, anti-wind farm party known as UKIP, swept local elections in the UK.
