Plastic microbeads are commonly found in personal care products such as soap, facial cleansers, body scrubs and toothpaste.

The beads are about the size of a grain of sand and cannot be filtered using conventional waste water treatment systems, meaning they end up in waterways and oceans.

Scientists believe that once in the waterways, the plastic particles attract other pollutants such as pesticides and oils and end up in the food chain. Because of their size, scientists believe the toxins are retained in the gut in humans and are not easily excreted.

Is climate change real? If so, is it a natural event or is it the result of human activity? Or is it an untimely contribution from both? Was it destined by nature anyway and we’re just hurrying it along? But what if it’s not real at all? What if the data is ‘fudged’ and our responses unnecessary?

Everyone has an opinion but when asked, cannot explain the thermodynamics of how the minute amount of CO2 at 0.0397% of the atmosphere can drive climate change up or down.

CO2 is not a pollutant, it is an important plant food. Our current levels have depleted to 0.0397% and plants, forests and the food chain are the worse for it. How is it possible for this important life sustaining CO2 to be manipulated in people’s minds and its life giving benefits reversed to the extent it is now demonised—it clearly shows the frailty of illogical minds – and dangers to future life.

When looking at industrial CO2 emissions they do not differentiate the dangerous contaminates in the same emissions— many people are confounding carbon dioxide with other air pollutants that come from factory fumes and car exhausts. Real air pollution is a serious problem, but regulating and reducing CO2 will not offer relief from this issue. How convenient to ignore the big problems and blame the only beneficial one—removes the burden of further analysis from feeble thinking. This pathetic mindset allows the dangerous contaminants to be overlooked and excused as they continue their irreversible damage to human and plant genome.

CO2 is naturally occurring and essential for life, all living cells are made of carbon compounds, our protein and food is made from carbohydrate chains, everything is fuelled by carbon, we eat it and exhale it. It is the sole base of our civilisation, CO2 is plant food; vegetable growers increase CO2 in hot-houses (about 300%) increasing production by 40%; food production worldwide will increase if CO2 increases and starvation will decrease. In the Jurassic-Period CO2 was five times higher than now where life flourished.

The real problem hidden by ‘climate-change’ hysteria is our oxygen levels. Researchers tell us in ancient times Oxygen was about 30%, today O2 is 20.95% — Why?

Scientists have found that oxygen in the atmosphere has been dropping at higher rates than just the amount that goes into the increase of CO2 from burning fossil fuels, some 2 to 4-times as much, and accelerating since 2002. Simultaneously, oxygen levels in the world’s oceans have also been falling Why? (see Warming Oceans Starved of Oxygen)

The simultaneous decrease in ocean oxygen not only threatens the survival of aerobic marine organisms, but is symptomatic of the slow-down in the ocean’s thermohaline ‘conveyor belt’ circulation system that transports heat from the tropics to the poles, overturns surface layers into the deep and vice versa, redistributing nutrients and gases for the ocean biosphere, and regulating rainfall and temperatures on the landmasses. Analyse of the abrupt climate change during the last glaciation 11 000 to 12 000 years ago suggest that the event may have been triggered by ocean’s thermohaline changes in response to small changes in the hydrological cycle.

This dynamical system is highly nonlinear, and small changes could make it fail altogether, with disastrous runaway effects on the climate (Global Warming & then the Big Freeze, SiS 20 http://www.i-sis.org.uk/LOG3.php). More importantly, it could wipe out the ocean’s phytoplankton that’s ultimately responsible for splitting water to regenerate oxygen for the entire biosphere, on land and in the sea. Current science advises Phytoplankton produces 50% of the worlds oxygen regeneration every day. The Amazon produces one fifth of the world’s oxygen (CO2 released is taken up next day).

Many have been misguided into demonising CO2 as a problem while the REAL problem of decreasing O2 is hidden.

A war on waste

Did anybody see the TV series War on Waste? Remember the coffee cups? Who could forget the coffee cups? The size of Australia’s annual coffee cup waste “catastrophe” has been estimated at 60 tonnes of plastic. If there are 1.5 billion people on the planet with a similar level of plastic coffee cup waste, that comes to about 3,750 tonnes. The global annual production of plastic is 380,000,000 tonnes.

It’s a rare skill to be able to find such small problems to distract people from the huge and important problems we face.

Plastics have outgrown most man-made materials and have long been under environmental scrutiny. However, robust global information, particularly about their end-of-life fate, is lacking. By identifying and synthesizing dispersed data on production, use, and end-of-life management of polymer resins, synthetic fibers, and additives, we present the first global analysis of all mass-produced plastics ever manufactured. We estimate that 8300 million metric tons (Mt) as of virgin plastics have been produced to date. As of 2015, approximately 6300 Mt of plastic waste had been generated, around 9% of which had been recycled, 12% was incinerated, and 79% was accumulated in landfills or the natural environment. If current production and waste management trends continue, roughly 12,000 Mt of plastic waste will be in landfills or in the natural environment by 2050.
