Italy -4%, was up 2% earlier. Italy has been swinging 2-3% intraday for a few weeks, but this one is a doozy. Even the FTSE100 (which is a glorified natural resources index) has given up the ghost, now -0.4%.
agree about it being a doozy. Italian stocks and bonds are trading like a developing world country with those kind of daily swings. In the absence of QE3, Italy will keep a big lid on US equities, unless those yields can decline materially.
Covering that bond short this morning may have been one of the great trades of my life. Very proud of my discipline there. ... still would have been greater it I'd actually gone long ...
