Guns are tools. Sometimes guns are tools of last resort.

The best defense is a moving van. Anticipate a problem in your area? Blast out of there while you still have some equity and move somewhere where the law and property rights are enforced.

You don't want to zot some idiot over some property. Assess your risk. If your risk is low stay put. If your risk is high get moving.

 

A gun is also good for shooting someone in the leg. I remember 4 years ago two blacks robbed a local pizzeria and as they were running out the door, the owner shot both guys in the leg. The cops caught them and a few minutes later they caught the getaway driver.

 

...and 6 months later they were released and likely back to crime.

 

I'd like to thank my brothers on the left who did a great job in making sure the 2A will not be repealed in my lifetime with all of their chaos and madness thrown about the country this year. You've set back gun control legislation a decade or more. Well done, friends!

 

My mind is certainly on firearms lately. Sold a great deal of my .22 LR, like 12,000 rounds lol.

Made room for .223 and associated mags in the safe.

Rooting around at the moment for milsurp quantity of 7.62 x 51mm. Revisiting sights and refreshing tritiums. Gonna change the grip on my Model 66 and get the trigger refreshed and updated.

Also paying attention to flashlights, batteries and chargers. I bought the most amazing charger from China, likely my last direct purchase from there. Delivery took 2 months! Its an Efan Lux S4.

Mine lasted about 10 years.

Some of my 12 ga ammo is about 10 years old. Its been stored in ammo cans indoors so cool and dry but I'm starting to wonder about it. I store everything with a large number of those silica desiccating packs. Might test some of the oldest and see if it works.

I'm a little worried about showing up in FL at the peak of hurricane season unprepared. When I get there I plan to design and build a small dedicated solar setup, off the grid, that just runs a 'fridge in the garage and maybe a few fans and lights and my chargers. I'm going to setup the panels so they can be removed and stowed during severe weather. Maybe 800 watts total or less.

 

Not a bad idea. I have a NG generator powers half of the house (AC and fridge, mostly. some lights).

 

More appropriate is to just point out it's Americans failing on social policies again resulting in the continuation of known problems for years and years and in some cases decades. Sure, blame it on the "left", that's a go to excuse on here sure.
