Give up my guns?

Wouldn't it make sense to stick with discussion of actual proposals before Congress right now, as these have at least some non-zero chance of being enacted. No pending federal legislation would prevent you from having a working firearm in your home, if that's what you want.

  2. Maybe Omar the Jihadist can explain how some people want to remove some people's rights just because something happened to some people.

Some might, most won't. It'll never work.

Yes, it would. Especially if I could be sure that folks on the left would stop there, and it wouldn't be an opening salvo to more strict control and eventual confiscation. But every time a liberal stands up and shrieks that guns should be banned, we dig in further in defense.

Want a some moderate folks on the right? Have some moderate folks on the left invite them. But moderation doesn't seem to be the left's strong point on this topic.

It seems you are under the influence of radical elements that are out there, to be sure. There are also moderate voices. These are in the majority; they will prevail.

See, this is exactly what I'm talking about. I'm under the influence of radical elements? I'm the gun owner and 2A supporter that believes in raising the age, background checks, removing loopholes, etc. But I'm radical, and you're moderate?

You won't stop the killings, because you're not interested in the killings. You're only interested in gun control. Seizing power, restricting rights.

    That's your narrative.

I don't think i said you were a radical. However i believe you are being unduly influenced by radicals. You're being reasonable as far as i can tell.. That's what we all need to be.

The idea that adoption of uniform, federal gun laws would lead to government confiscation of most or all guns is used by radicals to influence and manipulate otherwise reasonable people . The same can be said for the recant that those who propose uniform federal gunlaws are "not interested in the killings" but only interested in gun control, seizing power and restricting rights. This is a recant of the radical right. It's false, and can't hold up to logical argument.

My apologies, I misinterpreted your comment to mean something different.

It can absolutely hold up to a logical argument. Would you like me to post a dozen or so examples of prominent democrats calling directly for the banning of guns? How about some posts from posters here calling specifically for banning firearms?

When supporters of the 2A hear this, what do you think they do? They go into defensive mode immediately. They aren't willing to work with anyone because no one is showing they are willing to do anything but come after them. This isn't radical thinking, this is a response to radical thinking.

But we cannot design a law around "some people". I'd be for a military waiver on age.
