Don't think so. But think about carrying this in your pocket, and you're carrying your cell phone. Ringer goes off and you pull out the gun phone by accident and set it off.
Guns kill nearly 1,300 children in the U.S. each year and send thousands more to hospitals http://www.latimes.com/science/sciencenow/la-sci-sn-gun-deaths-children-20170619-story.html blob:http://www.latimes.com/2f82456f-f1f6-4119-8727-f5a8115c87f6
Read the article and the survey. First of all, they consider "children" up to the age of 18. Of course the fact that most people think "children" means little kids plays to the narrative. Regardless, any deaths from firearms is a bad thing. When you look at the demographics broken down in the study, 82 of these fall into "unintentional" and of those, 50 were under twelve. These are the real tragedies - the little kids who get their dad's gun because their dad is an asshat and doesn't store the firearm safely, and the kid kills themselves or others with the weapon. But 50 is a big difference from 1300. Homicides with kids under 17 (693 killings) are almost entirely gang related, with illegally owned firearms, and something you (and everyone else) has no idea how to prevent. These are the cases that are summarily ignored by your narrative and media, because it paints a picture that is negative to minorities. Still, you'll never get these guns in any ban. Suicides are another 493, and while it certainly makes it easier to kill oneself with a firearm, if one wishes to kill oneself, one will do it some other way if you remove the firearm. Addressing the issue behind the mental depression is the solution here, not going after the gun. But that doesn't fit your narrative either.
Dad cleaning handgun shoots, kills 6-year-old daughter State Police say a southern Indiana man accidentally shot and killed his 6-year-old daughter while cleaning a handgun. Monday, July 16th 2018, 6:14 am EDT You know. Because guns keep us safe. Handguns really need to be banned.
Yeah... let's ban all hand-guns because a small percentage of idiots -- while ignoring the 99.9%+ of responsible gun owners. While we are at it why don't we ban all cars because a small percentage of drivers are idiots. Good to know where the left stands on disarming all people including responsible ones. We can ask Stalin what comes next.
A 4-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his 2-year-old cousin Friday in the town of Muscoy, California, authorities said. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said deputies and first responders arrived at the scene around 9 a.m. local time at a home on Duffy Street. They said the 2-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead nearly an hour later. At this point, they believe that a four-year-old child got a hold of a handgun and shot - accidentally shot - the two-year-old child," a sheriff's department spokeswoman confirmed. ******************* Handguns really need to be banned. No reason for them. It's just stupid now.
Aren't 99% of muslims god fearing good hearted people? But we are banning all of them from several countries because a handful could be terrorists (and this is with significantly more vetting in place than handgun owners receive).
Where to even begin? It's extremely frustrating to realize that seemingly intelligent people can think like this. Of course, it is entirely possible this poster is a bot or some soros-paid troll. Anyway, Americans have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Unlike many of the made-up rights that liberals cherish, eg abortion, gay marriage, etc, this one is spelled out in black and white right there in the Second Amendment and was recently confirmed by the Supreme Court as an individual right that neither the state or federal government could infringe. Foreigners by contrast have no claim on our Constitution. Contrary to recent democrat positions, they have no constitutional right to move here or to ignore our immigration law. The same Supreme Court recently confirmed that excluding classes of non-citizens is the prerogative of the President and not within the authority of random District Court judges. On policy grounds there are many reasons to exclude residents of shithole countries. First, few of them bring skills that are in short supply here. Second, we have a right to preserve our country's culture and not be overrun by foreigners with no respect or appreciation for it. European countries are learning the importance of this now from bitter experience. Closer to home, I am quite sure the good people of Minnesota would like to reverse the disastrous Somali refugee disaster foisted on them by Bill Clinton. Third, and crucial to the ban on several muslim countries, there are no effective ways of vetting would-be immigrants or refugees. Those countries have chaotic and incomplete official records. We have no way of even knowing whom we would be letting in, not to mention their history of crime, terrorism or religious extremism. I question the assertion that 99% of muslim immigrants would be problem-free. That certainly has not been the case with Somalis in Minnesota, one of the country's most liberal states. We have seen repeatedly that once the muslim population of an area reaches a critical tipping point, perhaps around 15%, the demands start being made for special treatment, etc, then we get the no-go zones, religious vigilantes harassing women on the street and the like.
so far only like 10 muslims have committed terrorist attacks in the US (and they all happened in 2001). That ratio is far lower than gun violence where hundreds have been killed this year alone. The post I responded to had a fallacy in his argument. Constitutional rights for gunowners is a legitimate argument - but the Constitution is a living document so that argument is fairly weak (unless you are willing to give up all your alcohol and you approve of slavery - which you might). With respect to your view on Muslims, I suggest you stop watching foxnews and skimming breitbart headlines and go and meet some Muslims. Your views reek of ignorance. I doubt you've ever met a muslim. 60% of American's haven't that they tend to live in the Trump areas.
