The casting of relative Federal subsidies as "Red State Socialism" is unfair because Blue states obtain much of the benefit of these subsidies indirectly. For example, interstate highways receive a lot of Federal funding (90%) of the cost, but Red states proportionately do not need the interstate highway system internally as much as the more populous Blue states for transportation of basic and manufactured goods to and from factories. Agricultural subsidies also benefit Blue states through overproduction of food. This lowers prices that large Blue population centers pay and increases exports that Blue states partially derive income from through use of Blue State ports and other infrastructure This is a complicated "issue" and there are plenty of arguments available for both sides to make. However the attempt to cast the apparent benefits Red states obtain from Government subsidies when Blue states indirectly gain much from these subsidies as evidence Conservate economic hypocracy is ridiculous. It would be interesting to see the Left's reaction if Trump were to say, "OK, in order for the the U.S. Government to eliminate our budget deficit, all subsidies domestic and foreign will be eliminated".
