If she were to die or retire prior to the election then the position should remain open until after January 20, 2021, unless Trump wins AND the Senate remains exactly the same as it is now. The world will go on just as well with 8 justices or 9 for the time being. Age 75 should be mandatory retirement for all Justices and politicians.

I would expect McConnell and Trump have a vetted list or ready to go justices. I am sure they will work to get a new justice appointed, up until the very last moment.
