Ginsburg back at hospital

  1. Of course even if Trump loses, he will still be in power and the senate will still be held by the republicans for another two months plus.

    Just sayin.

  2. If she were to die or retire prior to the election then the position should remain open until after January 20, 2021, unless Trump wins AND the Senate remains exactly the same as it is now. The world will go on just as well with 8 justices or 9 for the time being.
Age 75 should be mandatory retirement for all Justices and politicians.

  3. Hard to believe that Ruthie won 96 votes out of 100.

Not something that will ever be seen again for any justice - conservative or liberal- again in the post Kavanaugh era. Tell me what the party composition of the Senate is and I will tell you what the vote confirmation vote looks like. Mitt Romney counts as a democrat of course.

it is Mitch McConnell's Biden rule after all. Oh wait, he's a hypocrite..

Also, most job's retirement age and when most benefits kick in: 65. So let me "arbitrarily" pick an age that magically makes Trump a 2 term president.

  5. Of course he's a hypocrite, they all are. You wanna make 65 the mandatory retirement, fine with me. Term limits. Fine with me. Can't hold any type lobbying positions or sit on corporate boards doing business with government? Great idea. Serve and GTFO.

  6. I would inflict maximum pain on to the democrats for their treatment of Kavanaugh, after the election - and in the lame duck period if necessary. Of course if Ruthie is still there, then that is a complicating factor. But if the opportunity arises.

Ditto for all the lower court justices with pending appointments.

Maybe you should vote democrat. They're the only ones fighting against garbage such as citizens united & voter suppression while the other side appoints corporatist Supreme courts who'll keeping corrupt rules in place because "tranny bathrooms" or some other bullshit.

I would expect McConnell and Trump have a vetted list or ready to go justices.

I am sure they will work to get a new justice appointed, up until the very last moment. So when is that moment?
24 hours of advise and Consent... then a vote maybe. If all the Republicans are on board... (which is a big if)

I really don't know... Is there a minimum time for an advise and consent?

I did not see one here....

No its not; the writing is on the wall. The loss of both houses is a very real possibility. The party, including Romney btw, will approve whoever in a blink.

  10. The pisspot scenario - and which is quite possible- is that Ruthie goes downhill so is not functioning or participating on the court but refuses to resign until after the inauguration.

She has always said that she would stay as long as she believed she could do the job, but who the hell believes that if a few months would take her into having her seat filled by a leftie.
