Gift of the GABA, could restoration of function in older brains spell trouble for the GOP?

    Sure. Poorly organized presentation follows.

    Push, pull, leg, core "slots".

Today I'm doing: (all to near failure)
Banded, one-arm overhead press to near failure. This is my high-push.
Banded, bent-over row. This is my low pull. Poor stand-in for deadlift.
Sprints. This is total leg, and cardio. Max heart rate, 20-25 seconds, x 4-6.
    Two-second crunches.

    Tomorrow:
    (Easier, rest the heart)
Archer pushups, strict from, pushout at top.
    Weighted pullups.
    No legs.
    Two-second side crunches.

    Next day:
Decline diamond pushups, pushout at top.
    Weighted chinups.
    Banded reverse lunge.
    Angels & devils.

And so on. Rotating exercise variations within each "slot". Been on this for about eight weeks now. You'll note that bodyweight or bands are sufficient for all but pull, the variation is chosen to get me to near failure in the 15-21 rep range, so I only need to bring bands in my suitcase. No warmup required for this rep range.

Prior to this routine, over the summer, I was using dumbbells, on a five-day split, going to failure in the 5-8 rep range. That split was organized on the five "human" movements: squat, hinge, push, pull, carry (timed).

And before that I was also heavy, 5-8, but doing split on chest, shoulders, back, legs, arms.

This is just 2021. I could go on, looking back through my logs, decades now! and find all kinds of stuff I've been on, e.g. power factor training, heavy duty, periodization by the quarter (still on that, kind of), some of these were programs specifically for martial arts, etc.

As I mentioned earlier, I'll likely go heavy again in the new year. I'll be dusting off the DBs, and also rotating in heavy variations like banded one-arm pushups, decline one-arm pushups (no band, I'm not that good), one-arm assisted chinups, Romanian deadlift, one-legged "cookie sheet sliders" for hamstrings.

    About it, off the top.

Edit: started using grease the groove on some days lately, it's new to me.

  2. Interesting, thanks. A bit too much variety for me, though. I do a simple full body routine, which I can do with or without any equipment, and I don't vary the movements. It becomes almost meditative, were it not for the heart pounding and heavy breathing. Some people might regard it as a rut. For me, it's a "system!" I love the familiarity and taking it to the limit.

  3. Maybe this will help restore what is left of Joe Bidens brain.

  5. So, you admit Joey needs help. Good for you, you are not totally delusional about his brain function unlike most of his voters are.

  6. I think you need to read the post again. Think "means to an end."
