1000:1? If you knew aliens would show up one day in a three year period that's about par. But there's no way you're picking the three years. 1000:1 is good odds for the bookie. Maybe 10k:1 might be good for the better, but I wouldn't take even that.
Well, the bookies disagree with you apparently. They only offered 1000:1 to a single better before dropping to 100:1. Even then, they stopped taking bets on the UFO event at 100:1 to cap their liability. I think the bookies lost their nerve when staring at a 7 figure loss on one event. If the true odds were 10K:1 as you suggest they should have been more than willing to take all comers at 100:1.
