I guess I was unclear. I know my writing skills could use a little work. When I refered to the guy as a "wildman", I just meant in his trading. As a retail broker, I had never encountered someone that would make 40 or 50 trade a day. I was used to one trade every 5 months or so. I took no abuse. The people seemed very professional and upstanding. And very rich. I guess I got blinded by greed if I made a mistake. I never would have learned about the money laundering had I not been drinking heavily in Monte Carlo with these guys after the market closed there at 11 pm. I was there for a 5 day meeting, which was a nice perk. Took my wife and son. He was 3 then and still remembers the helicoptor ride from Nice to Monte Carlo. Now he wants to be a pilot!! (still from the thrill of that experience). Anyway, your point is well taken. Thanks. M.
You stated you made a nice bonus, but got screwd outa the big salary. So it seems to me the onlly thing you truly lost was time. Now if you gain experience and had a a good time doing it when you were there then I say you didnt lose much. Just you didnt gain much either, but hey anything's better then losing. rite?
I agree with every word you say. I was really trying to get a read on the mentality of traders here, and their ability to take risk. I would do it all over again for sure (not with the same people). I felt lousy about my wife quiting her job. I think that was really the worst part of the whole deal. (and a lot of disappointment in not getting the BIG bonus). But things have a funny way of working out. As always. Thanks, M.
Menace........ I know it's hard to do since you are obviously still ruminating about getting screwed..... but you simply have to stop flagellating youself with posts like this. I think your poll is kinda , well, sad. Suck it up and get on with your life. I've "been there" several times in my life and I know it hurts. I hope you are still together with your wife.
Good advice. But it was just a chapter and I have no regrets. It was a long time ago, and it lead to better things. I really told the story to get a feel for the risk tolerance among us. Like I said several times, I have no regrets, and would do it again given the same circumstances. Believe me, that is not close to being the kind of thing that would make me miserable. I have suffered real misery, and it ain't about money or jobs ever! Trust me on this one! M.
Does anybody have a feeling that majority of one's life moves have been wrong? I always seem to wise up when it's too late.
Cesko, just fade youself. Do the opposite of what you would normaly do. That reminds me of a great Sienfeld episode where George does this to great results.
A guy I traded with tried it. Had pretty good results too! But alas, he no longer trades, he is now slicing pastrami and lox at the local bagel place. Good news is he owns the place. Married right, which works better than anything for some An excellent trade for him. Second marriage. M.
Babak Stupid me, how could I forget that. Married right, which works better than anything for some An excellent trade for him. The problem is you never know until it's over.
