Gutsy, your story is absolutely amazing ! Doing night shifts in a supermarket and meeting a professional trader letting you into his trading strategy that works ....now this can only happen in America ! I wish you lots of success. I myself am trading the Nikkei futures in the middle of the night while being a full time student in Germany...unfortunately, I am about to give up on trading, as all my strategies have failed so far, will have to look for a regular McJob again Greetings, Marsupilami
Were you able to keep it up??? Did you managed to increase contracts per day? what strategy do you use? Gal
Interesting observations for me yesterday after digesting Gutsy's view on institutional foot prints... Noticed the breakout of the chop to the downside in the morning on the YM/ES/ER2 and noticed a large 1 minute tick bar at 10:31 AM EST which spiked to -746. The futures were pushed to the low end of the latest trading range, and rapidly reversed and rallied quite strongly. To me, it seemed as if institutional players triggered program trades to get the futures into the low area of value by selling off stock, and buying back aggressively stock and futures in the low value area to ride for the rest of the day to the high end of value. As I do not have the ability with my current tools to monitor at 6 second intervals, what I saw yesterday on 1 minute bars was as close as I could get, and was a real eye opener... Thanks again Gutsy for providing another piece of the puzzle... Cheers.
At that time I saw no institutional activity. The first sign I saw yesterday was buying between 10:45 and 10:50 ET. I think what you saw was large spec shorting trying to trigger stops.
Well today was the last straw. I'm tired of the heart racing, jumpy hands, and feeling lousy because I can't hold a winning position. With the help of this board and particularly austinp, I've figured out that I'm not ready to trade just yet. I think I may be suffering from Situationally Bound Acute Panic Disorder. I've already put in a call to the psychologist I was seeing and made a appointment with the psychiatrist that's prescribed my antidepressant medication. The medicine I'm on could be making things worse. I guess trading through my anxiety problem is a waste of time. I'll have to do whatever to treat it before I can get in the saddle and get going again. If not, I'll have to give up on trading as a possible career. I must have really done a number on my brain to be this screwed up. Before I could put on 10 lots and not blink an eye. Now, a one lot that's one tick in the black doubles my heart rate. Go figure. If this can be turned around quickly I'll start posting to this journal again. If not, be nice to me when you pass my big rig in your Rolls.
Best of luck Gutsy. Hope it all works out for you and your family. Thankyou for your informative posts.
Thanks for the clarification Gutsy. Did you have a look at the technique I recommended to you in a PM? It works well with all kinds of strong negative emotions and just may help minimise the anxiety... Best of luck to you...
Part of your depression is your current job. and job that you have in mind. You need to boost your self-esteem. Start looking for another job where you have to use your head. Being truck driver will give you lots of time to think about who you are and that will screw your mind even more. Best of luck.
Best of luck gutsy, daytrade is a realtime war!!! I hope you'll find what best for you, some pease, even for a short while, is the best cure. Thanks for the tread... All the best
