I'll 2nd this suggestion

 

what was the reason behind the most active member list and counter in first place? what was its intended purpose?

 

That reason would be so the site could sell advertising by saying "See how often these guys post?"

 

Exactly. Remove both of these counterproductive items.

Talk about return on investment... a simple 2-minute code change, and ET would be vastly improved.

 

This is so true and self-evident, that supporting evidence is hardly required. But for those in doubt, just see the "congratulations Nitro" thread under chit-chat.

 

Lay off Baron brothers, this is a marketing thing and a necessary evil. Do Baron a favor and let these threads die.
