This is the stamp tax of our time. British put a tax on all paper even down to playing cards. This tax will hit everything, energy bill, gas, food. And it will pass the Senate. These scum have full control. They need 60 to push it through without filibusterer, they have it. If you think number 60 Lieberman (I) will stop it, google his name

That link isn't so bad, but look at this one.. Bush said if that came near him he would veto it. Look who authored it with Lieberman.. Same scum on this new bill.

They have the votes, the most massive tax since the stamp act is a done deal.

  2. Why do they elect that scoundrel Liebermann, anyway? What is he doing for his state that makes him a favorite?

is a huge power grab by the global statist-bureaucratic elite and their crony capitalist friends. I agree with the apocolypto analogy. All such massive examples of theft require a supporting mythology of freer and urgency... That is a politicians primary skill: Rob a man and make him believe it is not theft at all but rather charity to him and for his own good.

All this talk is pointless. Obama destroyed the opposition and he is now going to do what he wants. The people want national health care, carbon taxes, and massive redistribution of wealth. Hell I wouldn't even be surprised if they would say yes to reperations. Remember Obama is in control now and he is going to get shit done before the 2010 elections, count on it.

  5. Great comments by all. It's easy to explain why the pols support this. It gives them the ability to pick winners and losers in our economy through allocation of energy useage. Do you think that power could translate into some serious "campaign" contributions? Plenty of companies, eg GS and GE, see themselves as being postiioned to make massive chachingo from this. The rest of us? Not so lucky.

Isn't it really about Goldman making money by manipulating and trading carbon emission credits? Else why would GS be so in favor of getting the Cap and Trade passed. They see it as their next goldmine. Prepare thy selves for the "carbon credits bubble".

P.S. it was 100+ degrees here today, 110 with the heat index. Do I believe in global warning? In the words of that infamous American bitch, "You Betcha!".

(Nevermind the fact that we have clear cut the Earth's surface, other than the oceans, and paved it with black asphalt.)

  8. You republicans are such fucking fear-mongering morons. It's not going to double electricity prices. It had to be done , the US can't stay alone in not recognizing global warming.
If anyone "doubled" electricity prices, certainly that's the Bush republicans backing Enron and all sorts of shenanigans in electricity trading back in 2000. Not "socialist" Obama.

  9. Hopefully your trading is good, because your botany stinks. But this type of thinking is key to the global "warming" // CO2 scam. Fact is, 90% of all CO2 worldwide is absorbed (photosynthesized), not by trees or grass, but type microscopic aquatic plants called phytoplankton. Most species are marine, but some are fresh water as well. Phytoplankton also have the ability to vastly increase their populations when nutrients (e.g. CO2) dramatically increase. This process is called a "bloom". So the earth already has a fix for any CO2 surges, if it really did happen.

In the years before "environmentalism" became junk science, it was called Ecology (1970's), and it was a real science. Those text books are probably still available, used, ebay and such.

The Global Warming scam was actually invented by some guy in the 1980's (I forget his name). It caught on, and was recently updated to Climate Change, when the data showed that the Globe is actually cooling. Being a "climate change" proponent is kinda like predicting that the stock market will "fluctuate". :D

Most, if not all the Universities are in on the scam. Heavily subsidized or free college tuition is on its way, so the colleges will get paid back in spades.

    +2.

The bill empowers Government to pick winners and losers via carbon handouts to favored Corporations.

Political Committees will pick-and-choose to whom and how much carbon credits will be FREELY GIVEN, and the rest of the poor sods (small-to-medium business, political undesirables, the unconnected etc), will be left to BUY HORRENDOUSLY OVERPRICED CO2 Credits on the domestic or foreign exchanges. How will this turn out for big business? The supply (read: price) of every raw, intermediate or final product heavily dependent on carbon or energy products? The mom-and-pop factory?!?!? DOW pays nothing for its carbon foot-print. Your local chemical boutique pays 2 million a year, just to cover theirs. WHO WINS??? WHO LOSES??

This Bill is about institutionalizing Government Control over the Private Sector, and Huge Corporations leveraging Government to consolidate their market share at the expense of the Public, the Middle Class and the Small-to-Medium Business Owner.

This is Mussolini Fascism = Corporations Merging with Government.

This is it, folks. Wake up call. 3-5 years of America, left.
