I had a lightning strike at my house a few months ago and it wiped out a ton of my electronics, including my wifi setup, TV's, central vacuum, and even my doorbell. I ended buying the AmplifiHD mesh router with 3 MeshPoints and it has made a big difference in coverage and speed at my house.
Good grief man. Lightning kills people, but it killed just your doorbell? Consider yourself lucky, and be glad you were not fiddling on the roof!!
