Poor whites in the confederate south overwhelmingly vote republican http://www.greensboro.com/blogs/cla...cle_58d3439c-253a-11e3-87fe-001a4bcf6878.html. Most of the country's top food stamp counties are represented by Republicans Doug Clark Republican Congressman Hal Rogers represents Owsley County, Ky., which is populated by hardworking, independent, conservative Christian Americans. In 2012, better than 80 percent voted for Mitt Romney and Rogers himself. Yet, as Edward Wyckoff Williams writes in The Root (citing Bloomberg News research), "more than half of Owsley County's population -- 52 percent -- received food stamps in 2011 alone. The county's racial makeup is 97.6 percent white, and it has a median household income of $19,344 -- in comparison with the national median household income of $52,762. In fact, 4 in 10 of the country's residents live below the poverty line, based on U.S. census statistics." You know where this is going ... Rogers voted with fellow House Republicans last week to cut $39 billion out of the country's food stamp program over the next 10 years. The congressman explained his vote as an effort to protect truly deserving recipients from "scammers, lottery winners, gamblers and others who may be able to work, but simply refuse." He also blames President Obama's economic policies and anti-coal agenda. His constituents will know whether he's serving the truth or not. Political boilerplate doesn't come with meat and potatoes. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program might be thought of as a giveaway targeted at minority populations in urban districts represented in Congress by Democrats. Think again: "The Bloomberg review of 2,049 counties where the data was available included the 250 with the highest concentration of food stamp recipients. Among that group, 227 are wholly within one congressional district, with 160 represented by Republicans and 67 by Democrats." Again: 160 Republicans in Congress represent counties with some of the highest concentrations of food stamp use in the United States. And they're telling those constituents they're just cutting the fat. That should be easy to swallow.
Well good... the Congressman voted to break the cycle of dependency for his county. Why are we even discussing a county that has a mere 4,858 people living in ti and attempting to use it as a representative example. There are cities that have more people living off of food stamps in a single complex.
How we know for a fact that this is what Milton Friedman called "figures lie and liars figure" is that if republicans were really the primary and most important recipient of food stamps, or any other welfare program, the left would be demanding that it all be eliminated. They wouldn't be crying in their beer that poor people are going to die from republican policies. Because nothing but a casual stroll around the internet reveals that the left wants nothing more than for republicans to die. Do you have anything at all in your repertoire that isn't nonsense designed to deceive?
Well there are 1,894 households out of which only 32.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them. Why should the rich do without their tax cuts?
The elderly and disabled as well as children 01/19/2012 04:38 pm ET | Updated Mar 20, 2012 Most SNAP Households Have Children, Elderly, Disabled, or Are Working In Monday’s Republican presidential debate, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich regurgitated his charge that President Barack Obama is the “food stamp president,” justifying his assertion by stating that “more people have been put on food stamps by Barack Obama than any president in American history.” Gingrich has also urged the African American community to seek “paychecks, not food stamps,” implying that black Americans would prefer government assistance to a job. What Gingrich fails to realize, however, is that most households on food stamps (now called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP) have a child, elderly person, or disabled person. An analysis by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on program participation showed that nearly half of SNAP participants (47 percent) were under the age of 18, and 8 percent were age 60 or older. Perhaps Gingrich thinks that with his plan to put kids to work as janitors in schools, they will make enough to feed their families. Another inconvenient fact for Gingrich’s analysis is that many families on food stamps do work. In fact more than three times as many SNAP households had income from work rather than from welfare. And nearly 21 percent of SNAP households received Supplemental Security Income, which are benefits given to the aged and disabled. Perhaps Gingrich thinks that our elderly and disabled citizens are not working hard enough.
So what you are saying - the white people in the pictures wanted to have those large families and didn't seek abortions because they are republicans. So what the fuck are you complaining about?
And poor uneducated blacks that haven't even graduated high school overwhelmingly vote Democrat. What's your point?
He said all the people in the pictures voted democrat when it is likely the white ones were poor whites that vote republican.Read the thread before responding.
Is it a wise policy to reward people for poor decisions with more money? We subsidize large families from the dregs of society while middle class white couples defer or refuse to have children because of financial stress. Now they want to supplement it by bringing in large numbers of migrants who will also want large families, paid for by white taxpayers, of course. Is that really a good policy, unless your goal is to replace the white majority? The dilemma is we don't want to punish innocent children, but the parents function at a lower level than many domesticated animals. The obvious answer is mandatory birth control for women who insist on having children they cannot provide for.
