I actually don't know,I don't watch Amazon Prime sports. But with Amazon Prime exclusively getting Thursday Night Football I soon will.
Merely moving Thursday night football from a media venue that was more accessible by viewers to one that is less accessible.
The political circus continues... Texas governor rejects first-pitch invite over MLB's All-Star snub Abbott told the Texas Rangers his decision was a response to baseball's move to pull its Midsummer Classic out of Georgia over the state's controversial voting restrictions. https://www.politico.com/news/2021/04/05/texas-governor-rejects-mlb-first-pitch-invite-479049
Amazon Prime is getting millions of viewers for their sports programming and The NFL is getting billions from Amazon Prime.A win for everybody except those who thought and were hoping NFL revenues would drop due to kneeling and support of other social issues.
It is a win for the NFL for getting Amazon Prime to pay more for Thursday night football than the networks. It will not be a win from the number of viewers perspective when the Thursday night viewership audience drops further after the move to Amazon Prime.
Amazon does not have an entire TV network to hold up. If thursday night football gets average viewers over the past 5 years going forward and it adds more monthly suscribers, then it will pay off handsomely. How much do you think Disney paid to produce Mandolorian...must have been quite a shit load but it drew so many new subscribers there and pulled them in to their new offerings that followed. Amazon Prime is a multi billion dollar empire and getting Thursday NFL rights is another traffic draw. With fantasy football exploding through DraftKing and Fan Duel, viewership has and will continue to be steady. Could add 1,000,000 new subscribers who then start to take advantage of other benefits. Once you go past your dislike for the NFL, you will see how the business model works and Disney and NFLX proved it already. Amazon Prime video and shows are coming up fast.
