With all the new TV viewing options available absolutely amazing.Thats why networks are paying them nearly double thier last deal.
I never stated we should pass laws to restrict free speech from corporate executives. I simply stated that it is foolish for corporations or their executives to get involved in political issues which are not directly associated with their business. Usually it does not go well for the business in the long term. The entire issue of campaign finance with donations from corporations and their executives to parties, candidates, and PACs is a separate issue. Our political finance system badly needs reform.
Individuals, left or right, can demand anything they want ... in America. Check out Russia, China, and North Korea if you'd like the experience of a government that restricts speech that makes demands, comrade.
Today's hint: They are overpaying. Paying more for broadcast events where the audience is declining is a poor business deal and decision. I recognize Amazon landing Thursday night games is simply an attempt to build their "sports presence" in the vain hope to attracting more sports fans to Amazon Prime; IMO it is not a bet that will pay off (plus they overpaid).
Ok. Your opinion is that it's foolish. Got it. Seems like you want to steer readers towards believing government intervention is needed ... since ... I mean ... with your multitude of posts ... on the same point ... day after day. Agree.
Facebook: We promise not to donate any money to political groups or parties for the first 90 days of 2021. Also Facebook: Let's ignore that and donate $50k to the Republican group pushing the anti-democracy laws in GA and elsewhere. https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1379046428459294721.html
So, let me get this straight. A business said they wouldn't do something with their money, then, They changed their mind. Am I missing something? Is it just me, or have we all changed our mind on doing stuff with our money?
Find me my post where I ever stated that government intervention is needed to address Cancel Culture? My position has always been that Individuals and Businesses should push back and tell the Cancellers to go to hell and refuse to fold to their demands. In time this will eliminate the stupidity of "Cancel Culture". When Canceller's cross the line of doxing someone and threatening their house & family then criminal investigation action should be taken against the Cancellers.
Here are the first two words of my post: "Seems like." "Seems" acknowledges that no assertion was made. It indicates my opinion based on your other assertions and/or omissions. Got it. Your position is that businesses should do as you say. Got it. You have reasons for your beliefs. My position is that if someone has no financial interest in a business; and they don't like how the business is run; then they should, Take a controlling interest in that business, and run it the way they see fit, or, Start their own business, and run it the way they see fit, or, Lobby for more communistic laws, or, move on. You're like an overbearing parent. Businesses know they can push back. Some do. Some don't. Get over it.
