Somebody could argue that the Zimmster cracked under the pressure but I would say this. If he had a history exactly like his post-trial arrest record *before* the Martin trial he would likely have been convicted.

A couple of these assaults he has been involved with occurred while he was armed. That is troubling.

Here he has thrown a wine bottle or something. To be honest I didn't even read the account. My guess is that he'll get probation because they can't just throw him in the hoosegow fully knowing he would be killed there, right?

There was a high probability that Trayvon Martin would not live beyond his youth due to his Behavior - not due to his race. One only has to look at Trayvon's compilation of tweets, texts, FB messages, and descriptions from others of his behavior to see that he was going down the wrong path. His involvement with drugs, assaulting people (the bus driver), suspensions, crimes, and association with gang members makes it likely that his future would be bleak.

Sadly the story of Trayvon Martin's life is a tragic story, and the tragedy started long before he met George Zimmerman. Back in middle school and early high school, Trayvon Martin was a good student with A/Bs and well-behaved. He had a strong step-mother, Alicia Stanley, who kept him in-line. (See story here - http://theconservativetreehouse.com...y-the-only-real-mom-trayvon-martin-ever-knew/). However after his step-mother was no longer in his life, Trayvon went completely down-hill. His grades were poor and he was suspended multiple times.

Where to place the blame for this? The blame can be squarely placed on poor parenting. Neither Trayvon's mother, nor father wanted Trayvon in their homes. They basically did not stay strongly involved in his life during the critical teenage years and did not take proper measures to keep him on the right path. An obvious example of the poor parenting is outlined in what transpired before Trayvon encountered Zimmerman. Once again Trayvon was suspended from school. The mother's response - "I can't handle this - you go off to your father". The father's response that night "I am going to dinner with my girlfriend, you stay home" - rather than using the dinner as an opportunity to include Trayvon, see what is going through the kid's mind and provide some proper parental guidance.

When the Zimmerman/Martin case first came around - based on the information presented in the media I was a supporter of Martin's perspective. There are a number of threads in ET that demonstrate this - including my strong difference of opinion with posters such as pspr, 377Ohms, Lucrum and others. You can see my old posts in the following threads from when the case first came to public attention (check out the entire threads).

However as the actual facts started to come out in this case, it became clear that the initial media reports were wrong and the facts & physical evidence backed George Zimmerman's story. I reserve the right to change my opinion when the facts change - in this case the facts changed significantly over time.

It is interesting to note that the same characters that were hailing me as a brilliant man in these earlier Zimmerman threads - now are calling me a racist and white supremacist because my opinion has changed on this case when the facts changed.

We only have Zimmerman's version that Martin "escalated" the situation. Like you said, you weren't there. As far as Zimmerman's Not Guilty, I put it right next to OJ's. Not all trials are perfect.

Zimmerman has significant issues. I expect that we will see more news stories over time about Zimmerman being arrested for assault. The guy is not an angel. This incident involving a wine bottle is so minor that it does not warrant court action beyond probation. Nobody was hurt in the incident and it is not clear if the wine bottle ever hit anyone.

Sadly the Zimmerman/Martin incident is partially due to that two individuals who had no conflict resolution skills encountered each other. This does not detract from the facts in the case which demonstrate that Zimmerman was not guilty of any crime when he shot Martin who violently assaulted him - as demonstrated in the not guilty verdict from the court system.

Nothing has changed about the case. You tried to tie the so-called slimjim to Martin. You couldn't. You bring up the irrelevant side-track of drank, which even so still doesn't tie to Martin. Iced tea is not a drank ingredient. Nothing about the physical evidence proves that Martin started the fight. What we do know is that Zimmerman with a long and known history of violence unnecessarily provoked a confrontation. You tried and failed to dismiss Zimmerman's violent tendencies as irrelevant.

I read your links. You were fairly reasonable then. The only thing that has changed is that you did a 180 based on innuendo and racist theories.

Your assertions are absurd. The only thing your commentary demonstrates is that you only see things through the filter of race, and not based on the facts. Anyone who disagrees with your nonfactual assertions you attack as a racist.

BTW - Trayvon purchased Arizona watermelon iced tea - this is the most common juice ingredient used to mix up a batch of purple drank. Look it up.

I do not view the lack of respect and violence exhibited towards teachers from students in our schools today as a race issue. It is a lack of discipline issue.

In today's schools a teacher can not touch a student without having the book thrown at them. Back when I went to public school all the asst. principals were ex-WW2 Marines. If you ever hit a teacher then the principal would take you outside and beat the shit out of you - and every parent in the community would applaud the principal (and yes, this did happen in high school - only once. Once was lesson enough to all the other trouble makers in our "liberal" suburban Long Island high school near NYC.)

BTW our high school had both a rifle and archery team. Students brought their guns and bows to school each day and put them in their gym lockers. We never had a school shooting issue.
