    FALSE

No, George Soros never said he made it his life’s mission to ‘destroy the United States’

Did George Soros Say His Life’s Mission Is to Destroy the United States?
There is no evidence that the billionaire supporter of progressive causes ever uttered such a remark, or anything resembling it.

Of Course Soros never said such a thing. Those two -- hotcakes and fortune teller-- are two of a handful of radical screwballs and conspiracy theorists that post on ET. I'm quite sure this so called quote from Soros comes from a facebook disinformation campaign against Soros. He has been a constant target of Eastern European, primarily Russian, sponsored disinformation campaigns for years because of his Open Society Foundation, which fights totalitarian governments by funding dissident groups in those countries. Soros does not directly involve himself with these groups. His foundation, which he funds and influences but does not run, funds these groups. Soro's philosophy is to let the Foundation directors decide which groups and causes to fund but let those that receive funding make their own decisions without interference from the Foundation. If they do something that the Foundation judges to be disreputable or dishonest, or squander the money ineffectively, funding will be withdrawn. The Open Society publishes a publicly available Annual Report that details programs and organizations they support. It's the kind of thing that virtually no other philanthropist will do, because if they did, they too would have the same kind of withering attack on their reputation launched against them that has been launched against Soros, with the full power of the totalitarian States behind it. For that reason, Soros is one of my personal heroes. We need more George Soros's in the world!

To paraphrase, was it George Kent?, it's hard to go after a tyrant without pissing them off.

Let me be straight-forward... I am not a supporter of George Soros. I believe his funding of activities via the "Open Society Foundation" in the U.S. and worldwide undermines democracies and countries.

Particularly worrisome is his funding of candidates in DA races in the U.S. who push for "no bail" for nearly all crimes -- this makes our communities significantly less safe. We have now have one of these progressive DAs in Durham - since she took office the shootings in Durham rose to record highs and many citizens have been victims of violent crimes by criminals who are out on "no bail". The police in Durham are basically doing "catch & release" with criminals -- and the results have been catastrophic.

You can review my previous posts on Soros to get my opinions in detail. However I am sure we have discussed this topic in the past.

However I do not support totally fabricated quotes being attributed to individuals falsely and will call it out.

I believe you are correct. I think the Foundation did fund the Acorn people in the u.S. for example. There were credible reports of malfeasance in that organization. If a person were interested, I think the information would be in the Foundations annual report. My guess would be that that Acorn had their Foundation funding jerked. The funding of particular political campaigns in the U.S., I don't believe are Foundation activities, but rather involve more direct participation of Soros or his family. I am generally a supporter of the same causes he contributes to, and in particular I believe the push to eliminate bail for most charges is the direction we should be moving in.

The bail system, in my opinion has become increasingly corrupt and serves no useful purpose in the majority of cases, and perhaps is often counterproductive. People with jobs who can not make bail, end up in jail and losing their jobs, then have no way to pay their fines, and end up trapped in the system as their fines grow due to delinquency. This is a serious problem in the U.S. Our criminal Justice system traps people that have committed minor crimes, and once trapped they find it difficult to extract themselves. The justice system is partially funded by fines which go, more or less directly, into the system's coffers. This method of funding creates a conflict of interest. I prefer that we fund the Justice system entirely from tax revenue and make courts and law enforcement budgets independent of fine revenue. Fine revenue should go into the general budget and have no affect on Justice system funding.

Well -- -I will simply state I disagree regarding eliminating bail for most crimes. I have directly seen the impact of this failed policy in Durham.

I do agree to some extent that some people get "trapped in the system" for minor crimes. There has been media coverage of this. However there is no excuse for what we are seeing in Durham and other places where criminals charged with serious crimes are set free, commit the crimes again within hours of getting out, then do this again.... and again. This is unacceptable -- and this is what happens when you have no bail -- it is simply a permits criminals to victimize the community for months before they are finally convicted --- and then due to progressive DA the sentences are usually light -- like probation which means they are out to prey on people again.

Note this is my opinion. This has been discussed in the past -- where I have cited examples example of issues faced by countries and the actions taken by them including Hungary banning his foundation.
