(Extreme) liberalism or any other extreme does not promote balance, and without balance we have chaos.

friedman wrote the reply to this socialist tripe filled with red herrings probably before soros even wrote this ode to marxism.

Indeed. He is a personal hero of mine. I have tremendous respect for him. But then I take the time to get accurate, and complete information. And I have read a number of his books. One of which is arguably the most important book on investing and trading yet written, viz., "The Alchemy of Finance".

"To my mind, he decisively punctures the standard textbook model of efficient markets and rational expectations, what he labels 'market fundamentalism'... ignor[ing] the systematic implications of [George Soros's] observations will, in my judgement, fail to develop the full potential of globalized finance for well-developed and underdeveloped economies alike. ... the bulk of his enormous winnings is now devoted to encouraging transitional and emerging nations to become "open societies," open not only in the sense of freedom of commerce, but --more important-- tolerant of new ideas and different modes of thinking and behavior." - Paul A. Volcker

"History will probably remember Mr. Soros as the speculator who tilted against the Bank of England in in 1992 (and freed the English people from recession) ... But I am going to remember him for something even more important, for which he does not receive the credit he deserves, He is someone who genuinely cares about the state of the human condition and tries to better it. His myriad and monumental philanthropic efforts will qualify him as one of history's great benefactors." - Paul Tudor Jones II

Yes. And tell us again all about how the Federal Reserve is an incredible institution, borne of brilliant minds like Bernanke and Yellen. You certainly are on the right side of history, Piezoe.

I don't know you personally, so I only have your posts to go on. That has the advantage of precluding me judging you on the basis of your appearance. I have but a tiny glimpse of your personality, that little bit that comes through from your posts. And that's all you have to go on with regard to myself. I didn't take me long, however, to conclude that Mr. Soros is a far better trader and investor than I, and I am going to guess that he is also a far better trader and investor than you. One thing I can be virtually certain of, however, is that he has done far more for mankind than both of us together many times over. I applaud him for that. I invite you to prove me wrong.

I've neither the time nor inclination at the moment to go into our differences with regard to Fed policy. Perhaps at a later time. In fact the Fed has been quite thoroughly discussed on ET already. I doubt there is much that can be added. My interest at the moment is in defending Mr. Soros against unfounded and unwarranted attacks.
