  1. This is the reason I root for the vets and welcome the return of DW & Craven... if only for an occasional race!

Here's to Ward's comeback (and southern draw) next season!
    :)

Spyder, hope you're having a great time on vacation!

  2. Anyone up for some Carl Edwards quotes concerning Mr. Stewart?

"Let me just say this: If it weren't for respect of the sport and the people watching and his team and everything, he'd be out there bleeding right now.

"That's so frustrating. How can a person make it this far in life being that much of a jerk?"

"And then when I pull up beside him and wave my hand like, 'What was that about?' he gives me the finger.

"I mean, what a jerk. I don't even know what to say. It's amazing to me that someone can be that special."

"I want to like Tony, He's a hard racer and all that, but how can you like somebody like that? It's just amazing. If you hold that guy up, like if he thinks you held him up, he gets so upset and then he can wreck two guys and give you the finger."

    "That's spectacularly self-centered. I can't imagine being like that."

  3. I like Carl Edwards and respect him as a real talent. However, he's a good example of the spoiled young drivers who are beginning to make NASCAR resemble the NBA. Edwards is a second year driver who has won several races. Tony Stewart is a two time Cup champion, plus was probably the greatest driver in the history of the IRL He can win in a sprint car on dirt Wednesday night, then win at Daytona on Sunday. He has dominated every race series he has ever been in. He can beat you in his car, then trade cars with you and beat you again, pick your course, road, oval, short track, dirt.

I understand Edwards' frustration, but someone needs to sit him down and tell him to shut up. I guarantee you the last thing he wants is a feud with Stewart. Obviously Stewat didn't mean to wreck him, and I'm sure Stewart regrets it. He said as much.

Obviously, Stewart needs to get a handle on his temper, as it is costing him and his team. I blame NASCAR as well for being very inconsistent in enforcing rules against rough driving. Stewart has a point about the lack of give and take, but his overreactions make him look hypocritical.

I think NASCAR needs to be very proactive and sit all the drivers invovled down and make it very clear that they are looking at long suspensions if there is any deliberate wrecking. With the Chase format, the stakes are hugely higher than they used to be back in the golden days of NASCAR when the drivers could police themselves, either on the track or behind the garage.

  4. AHHhhh AAA I can't believe im saying this but you are wrong! LOL TS has been acting like an ass all year...He complains about aggressive driving before Daytona and then goes out and crashes Kennseth...he keeps saying its a give and take, but last year he plowed Gordon because he didn't;t want to wait...He was wrong and is going to kill somebody one of then days and THEN all the pundits will come out and ask why nobody stopped him sooner....Carl Edwards was minding his own biz. TS crashes boyer and he takes out a guy trying to make the chase....and then Stewart flips him the bird? Edwards is 100% right...

i usually agree with you amigo but TS needs to practice what he's preaching!

  5. TM,

I agree that he has been out of control all year and is hurting himself. He's barely hanging on to tenth spot for the Chase and now is vulnerable to one of the many guys he's pissed off taking him out of a race just to spoil his chances. A lot of times it seems to me he does have a point about the other guy's driving, but NASCAR has not appointed him to be track monitor, so he needs to just take it in stride like everyone else does. I think what really sets him off is when a rookie or backmarker doesn't give him the respect he thinks he's due. Of course, that doesn't explain that bizarre Kenseth incident at Daytona.

I know this. I can't take my eyes off Big Orange during a race. He's either doing something brilliant or incredibly stupid.

  6. Sorry Stewart, you're not gaining the respect of the guys in the other garages yet. Earnhardt Sr. is a tough act to follow.

Geez. I leave the country for a week only to return to see ESPN compare Pasta Boy to 'fat, drunk and stupid.' Sorry I missed the fun times at Pocono.
