Danica to stay in IRL...with Andretti team? - Spydertrader <img src=http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=1134852>
Probably a good move for her. I don't doubt she could get a Cup ride, but I do doubt she would be competitive. The last thing she or NASCAR need is another woman driving around at the back of the pack getting in wrecks.
Speaking of wrecks, how can NASCAR not put that idiot Ryan Newman on probation for taking out the leader Sunday when he was a lap down? So what if he was on fresh tires, he is not entitled to run over the race leader just because he is a bit faster. He was not even on the lead lap. This kind of thing, which Newman has a history of, just leads to more stuff later on. He better hope Stewart makes the top 10, otherwise the remainder of the season could be brutal for him as we already know Stewart is not shy about taking revenge on guys he feels have shafted him.
For years, Newman has developed a reputation for hard racing. Normally, I couldn't find fault with a guy that races hard every lap. Unfortunately, Newman acts the same way whether he finds himself battling for the lead or fifty laps down. Stewart speaks very plainly about Newman's methods in this interview. "At some point you finally get tired of giving to everybody," Stewart said. "You're giving to certain individuals and all they do is take, take, take, and they don't give back. "When you catch them 30 laps into it and you've got to race your guts out to get by them, it doesn't make you really want to pull over and let the same guy go later on in the race." Now, I'm no fan of Pasta Boy, but I have seen Newman do the same thing to other drivers on a routine basis. Fifty laps down and in 42 place, Newman refuses to move over for any other driver. A few weeks back when newman had a smashed up car tooling around the track for laps and points, he did the same thing - made other drivers go around him, rather than, move out of the way. Not to worry though, Tony plans on delivering the message to Ryan loud and clear. If Ryan races Tony in a similar fashion in Pocono, he can expect to have an up close and personal meeting with the outside retaining wall. Ask Matt Kenseth how paybacks work. - Spydertrader
The problem is that Tony is now struggling to make the Chase, after a nightmare series of races featuring crashes, breakdowns, running out of gas and now this Newman crap. He really can't afford to be delivering messages to Newman right now. I have a feeling Tony's frustration level is at Mt. St. Helens proportions though, and if he misses the chase, there could be some major payback. I wonder how one of the great men of racing, Roger Penske, feels about having a team with NASCAR's two biggest dickheads as drivers. At least Kurt Busch seemed to realize there was a problem and addressed it. I wonder how much longer Penske will tolerate having a moron like Newman represent his team, particularly since the guy they used to call Rocketman is now mostly a dud.
Can any current driver get 50 wins? (Other than current drivers already beyond the 50 win threshold? Thoughts? - Spydertrader
Nice link Spidey. I think my favorite driver Tony Stewart could have a shot. That is, if he ever wins another race.
Pabst wrapped it up, Stewart has a shot. Whoa... Sadler to drive the #19 Dodge next year? Poor Mr. Yates! http://www.nascar.com/2006/news/features/last_lap/07/18/esadler_19/index.html
