  1. Confirmed: DJ to Waltrip Racing/ Toyota.

Jarrett, 49, was officially named as one of Waltrip's drivers for next season when the Toyota Camry makes its debut in the Nextel Cup Series. Waltrip and Jarrett will be teammates on the two-car team of Michael Waltrip Racing.

The move ends Jarrett's 12-year relationship with Robert Yates Racing, where 29 of his 32 career Cup victories came.

"We're obviously not happy Dale is leaving Robert Yates Racing because he's been a champion and a great ambassador for Ford fans," said Dan Davis, director of Ford Racing Technology. "We understand his decision, but we are disappointed."

  5. Interesting choices. A guy who has never done much other than win plate races when DEI had them wired and a guy who seems way over the hill. Yates has really fallen on hard times. Are they getting ready to join the once feared Woods Brothers as permanent also rans?

It's also ironic that these two drivers probably have more face time on commercials than all other drivers put together. I wonder if UPS will ditch Yates and go to the new team? They have spent a fortune on DJ and the idioitic "race the truck" commercials. I assume NAPA goes with Mikey. He's the company spokesman.

  8. Thanks for linking to the entry critieria.

Who do you like in the Open? Should be some good racing. Last year featured one of the skankiest moves of the year going to the line when Brian Vickers turned Mike Bliss. NASCAR should have blackflagged Vickers and put Bliss in the main race.

  9. A quick glance at the Nextel Open Entry List, and I like the chances of "Front Row" Joe Nemechek and Robby Gordon. Of course, I'll be rooting for perennial underdog Kirk Shelmerdine to somehow luck his way in or receive the Fan Vote for the Wildcard Entry. I attended this race the year NASCAR started the race while rain continued to fall in Turns One and Two. The miscue resulted in a big wreck right as the race started. NASCAR permitted several drivers to use their backup cars, and restarted the race. Jeff Gordon ended up winning in his back up ride.
