Well now, I guess that answers my earlier question concerning whether or not "modifications" happen on a regular basis. Good article.
Loved this line ..... Foyt still gets riled about "the time they throwed me off the pole -- said I was cheatin." - Spydertrader
What's the deal there, Spyder? Does Joe put different carbs in the motors he sells or what? Why would he put an illegal one in there?
Joe's team provides all the engines for HOF Racing. Different carbs for Talladega and Daytona (restrictor plates) is a common occurrence. However, Joe's team mistakenly put the wrong (read unapproved for this track) carb on this particular engine. A whole number of individuals should have caught the error, but did not. Clearly accidental, NASCAR is treating the situation as if it were intentional. A load of crap if you ask me. As a result, HOF Racing receives a royal smack down from NASCAR Officials, but Knaus and the #48 Team (who intentionally altered approved parts to obtain an advantage) don't. - Spydertrader
Robbie Gordon gets my vote for favorite underdog considering fighting the odds of being his own team owner. Not to mention that I'm also a very passionate off-roader myself, therefore I gotta love RG. My vehicle of choice: ktm exc 300 2stroke
