I like Kyle...Kids a great racer and FAR superior to Jr.....Im not sure why they gave up on him....didn't fit the hendrick mode i guess
I love the effect Kyle is having on Jr Nation It's just not the car either... if Yeley was still in the 18 I guarantee you he wouldn't have led 1131 laps with 8 wins so far. Sure, he's a punk kid... but so were DW, Earnhardt Sr, Gordon etc... No?
I don't like Kyle; never did. I believe Kyle cut his own throat with Rick Hendrick when he left the racetrack and junior had to jump in Kyle's ride. Rick don't roll that way. On the upside, I believe Kyle recieved the much needed wake up call, when Rick sent him packing. As a result, Kyle has since let his driving do the talking - instead of his mouth. So, while I really don't care for him, I have to give credit where credit is due. Kyle's raw talent, combined with Toyota's horsepower, has provided quite a recipe for success. All that remains is to see if Kyle can keep his ego out of the mix for the entire season. If so, the Cup Championship should be the next milestone he passes. - Spydertrader
I'm sure that his brother's rough season has helped. Think about it - Kurt was the same full of himself jerk for a long time, winning a lot of races and a championship pretty early in his career. Now the guy's way down in the points (I'm not going to digress about Penske here). Kyle saw how quickly it can go sour - he can certainly see that success can be fleeting, so that wake-up call when he left the track combined with his brother's troubles lit a fire under his belly.
Another bummer of a week for the boys in the Hendrick stable. Gordo finished 42nd, junior smacks the wall near the end, and Johnson crosses the finish line in the grass - with a 17th place run. Outstanding!!! Sheesh!! And who'd a thunk the Gibbs boys would be caught cheating? Not me for sure. - Spydertrader
Well... we all know HMS is totally innocent of ever trying to find an edge with their cars, right? If there's an innocent race team in Nascar, its definitely Knauss/ Johnson.
What? There's no cheating in NASCAR. Hell, my guy even got busted this year. Also, the cheating was with the Nationwide cars . . . they're different cars, and I'd doubt that this crosses over to Cup. But it'll be a great day when Dave Rogers is suspended. The Gibbs domination, for me, is more annoying in Nationwide than in Cup.
Per Jayski: Gibbs Penalties Announced: NASCAR announced that the #18 and #20 teams in the Nationwide Series have been penalized due to rule violations discovered by NASCAR inspectors prior to post-race testing on the chassis dynamometer Aug. 16 at Michigan International Speedway. In addition, the entire # 18 and No. 20 Nationwide Series teams have been placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31, 2008.(NASCAR PR)(8-20-2008)
Looks like Kyle got his panties in a bunch there after the race. Edwards did good IMHO. Didn't put him into the wall, just a little nudge to get by. Kyle actually paid him back in the next corner but couldn't make it stick, and even sideswiped him in the straight. Faster car won, KB... sorry.
Cheap win for Toothy. You could tell he was ashamed in the post race interview. He is a wimp and will be squealing when Kyle puts him out of a Chase race. I thought Kyle showed a lot of restraint in the interview. If I'm him, my main beef is with Hamlin. Hamlin passed him when he and Edwards were banging, then basically blocked him while Edwards drove off into the sunset. I think Kyle would have knocked Edwards out in a lap or two if Hamlin hadn't been in his way. Some teammate. This race was another example of how useless NASCAR is. I've seen guys, Robbie Grodon for example, blackflagged for less than Edwards did, but they weren't Roush drivers. This was not a case of two guys getting together during hard racing, like the Busch/Earnhardt incident earlier in the season. Edwards just lined him up and ran into him. I can just hear Edwards whining if the same thing happened to him. How can NASCAR penalize Kyle if(actually I think "when" is the correct term) he takes Edwards out? Once they start allowing dirty driving, the law of the jungle takes over.
