A bad deal all around 'image wise' for JGR. Rockwell had people at the race and expected to see Denny in the car they sponsor - clearly an understandable situation. However, the reason for the delay (from what I hear) stemmed from the inability of Denny's helo to to land on the pad. Why? Because someone thought it a bright idea to park a bunch of cars on the landing pad! As to why Almirola stormed off bent out of shape, I have no idea. He knew from earlier in the week his job was to stay warmed up in the bull pen, and that Denny's job was to drive the car in the race. If not for a dim witted parking lot attendant, Almirola never starts the race. Besides, it isn't like Hamlin finished 6 laps down. He won the thing from a lap down. However, what I find most interesting about the whole weekend was not Montoya's win, nor Hamlin's brilliant charge to the front, but rather, Dodge's ability to travel more miles with fuel mileage than the previous year on a fuel cell that is 4 gallons smaller than the previous year. Maybe NASCAR should inspect Juan's gas tank as closely as they inspected Jeff and Jimmy's bumper. - Spydertrader
Surely you jest Spyder. This is NASCAR, not the WWE. Are you actually suggesting they had a desire for something other than a Chevy to win a race, and that they might have had an even more intense desire for Juan Pablo to win in california? I also found it interesting how well the toyota teams were able to qualify in a race sponsored by...toyota.
Gordon, Johnson docked 100 points for violations Crew chiefs Letarte, Knaus suspended for six races http://www.nascar.com/2007/news/headlines/cup/06/26/jgordon.jjohnson.penalties/index.html
Pretty strong stuff. They would have had a hard time not following the precedent set with DEI however. Knauss is lucky he didn't get benched for longer. This is becoming a habit for him.
Pretty much thought the same thing, if they didn't get the same fine as Dale Jr. even I would have went "Hmmmmm". Oh well, that's what that giant points lead was for, race on boys.
Richmond IRL race Saturday night. One of my favorite races. Those IRL cars can carry some insane speeds around the short Richmond track. I don't understand NASCAR's new TV package. I thought all the races would be on major networks. Instead, they are all over the place. One week on SPEED channel, which I don't even get. Last week on TNT. Keep this up and the ratings will be on par with the NHL.
Truex screwed Gordon over....he forced gordon to race him hard for 2nd but Truex wasn't;t pushing Hamlin at all...you could tell Gordon was being ultra conservative in his passing of truex..
