I respect Jeff Burton as a driver and a man. He could have put a bump and run on Busch and easily won the race, just like Dale did to Terry Labonte several years ago. They still talk about that race. This one will be quickly forgotten. Did Burton do the right thing? Or did he let down his team, his sponsors and his fans? Honestly, weren't you hoping the 24 would be running second because we know he would have put the bumper to the kid, teammate or not. Maybe have another pit road fight. Also, I think Busch might be on some sort of record pace for last lap wrecks going for the line. He has what, three already this year? Burton could have justified bumping him by saying he didn't want to spoil his quest for the record.
I'd have put the bumper to Kyle (teammate or not) just so people didn't have to listen to him whine like a little girl over having to (oh, no) suffer the indignity of driving a sucky car en route to winning what, a million dollars? The dude needs to grow up. Every time he finds himself in Victory Lane, he has to cry about some injustice. Anytime Kyle wants to leave and go flip burgers, I'm sure a line about a mile long exists with guys willing to take that ride. - Spydertrader
i watched from start to finish (flipping to Fl hoops game for commercials.....great race and Gordon deserves a lot of credit for not giving up...thought both him an Burton should have been more aggressive though.
He can be a little bit annoying, just like his big brother was. I give the kid credit though. He's making a habit of being around the lead at the end. What did you think of the COT? That front splitter is really a weapon to take out a tire, isn't it? No matter what the suits say, the main reason for the COT was to try to inject some excitement back into the deadly dull 1 1/2 mile track events. They seem to think if a car is not so aero senstive, there will be more side by side racing and passing. Maybe, but I kind of doubt it. This new obssession for progressive banking is thesame thing, ie deperately try to get some racing back in it. These are bandaids to make up for crappy, boring tracks. Still, back in the day when the cars actually looked like street cars, racing was pretty good. Of course, drivers were a lot hungrier back then. Now no one wants to risk spoiling a top five finish.
