Genesis Suspending Client Withdrawals for Lending Arm Citing 'FTX Impact'

  1. I wonder what the realistic chances of this happening are... in relation to our lifetimes.

I fear catching Ethereum at triple-digit prices is just too tuff a wall to break. It only happened for a very short moment in time during the Luna collapse, and was quickly eaten up by the buy-wall that psychologically gets exponentially excited at seeing just 3-digits instead of 4.

I've got some powder still standing by... but with the merge being a success, there's very little more you can throw at it to make her sink.

This is exactly what I have been saying! And it's not like the market for paper gold where they just let you buy more than is actually available. Sure, some might use futures as a way to get exposure which would suck, but owning the actual bitcoin should hopefully be seen as superior now.

It's funny how even all the skeptics are waiting for a ridiculous low price to get in. It seems like we have so many people waiting for 10k or 5k that I doubt it will get there.

After this FTX fiasco, did Bitcoin really drop that much?? Who is left to fall? And that large wallet that keeps accumulating seems to take whatever is out there.

My prediction is that bitcoin and a host other cryptos will go to zero because there won't be regulatory oversight. At some point in the not so distant future Fed will kick off a pilot program to issue blockchain operated and USD backed digital currency. This will be the final nail in the coffin for btc.

Fed just started working with some of the largest banks on a digital token project.

And the circulating supply of this will be what? And how much will they add every year to dilute the supply? Stocks already take a major dump when a company has to sell more shares to raise capital. With what you describe, governments will just print at will. I doubt we will all be rushing out to buy the Fed coin.

Only believers kinda sorta. When it drops they will decide to wait for a lower price, and finally they'll brag about how smart they were not to have been sucked in.

Now as a skeptic I'm just waiting for the trend to change. I was challenged about a year ago to show how a trader could outperform a buy and hold investor. Since that date Bitcoin has been in a downtrend and lost about 65% of its value, and still dropping.

Now I read that 65% of bitcoin hasn't moved in the last year. HODL!! So you would think that as it got rarer the price would increase. Someone has been accumulating and trying to hold the price up but selling pressure is slowly driving the price down. If I were that someone and wanted to accumulate, I'd stop buying and see where the price might fall to. Might even throw a bunch on the market for cheap to see how low it might go.

Learned a while ago, before FOMO and HODL became common terms, that both can lead to an also recent term, Bagholder!!

Same as with the current fiat system. How to you currently pay for your car or milk? In the future you will instead pay with digital tokens that are equally backed as your current fiat currencies, just that you make transfers out of your digital wallet. And your salary will be paid into your digital wallet. Same as now but a digital version of it.

Right, but this doesn't solve anything. Fiat currencies all go to zero eventually. Right now it's a delicate balance of trying to maintain the value of the dollar but not crash the economy. If rates stay high, economy crashes. If they are forced to print, there goes the dollar. There is no way out of this mess.

Nothing goes to zero. Which industrialized nation's currency has gone to zero in the past 5 decades? You make some completely irrational assumptions.
