The polar ice has naturally cycled for centuries; melting and freezing. There is recorded human history with record warm temperatures and little ice - such as around 500AD when most of coastal France was flooded and ice caps on mountains disappeared in Europe. It should also be noted that as ice caps in Europe are ebbing today they are finding remains of villages occupied by early man that was formerly under the ice - reflecting a period when the weather was warmer and ice did not cover the mountains. Trying to say in 2012 that global warming caused by man is going to end the earth is just as absurd as the claims a few mere decades ago that global cooling was was going to end the earth by Year 2000 and cover New York City with a sheet of ice in the start of a new ice age.
i just love the deep thinkers on et. in 500ad we didnt have 7 billion people on earth that had to be fed. since the earth was formed there were many heating and cooling cycle causes. some were natural. all caused bad things to happen. right now the cause is human. the earth will survive but the human race could be facing hard times.
My wife and I went to a GW presentation at a nearby university a few months ago. One of the speakers was a NASA scientist who was a strong believer that GW is caused mostly by humans. He also said that most scientists don't want to give the details of the mathematical models because they show that carbon tax schemes and such will do nothing to effect GW. He said that if you carefully study the models it shows that the ONLY thing that will reverse GW is to reduce the human population by 20-30%. All other GW strategies he said are just "Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic."
it is getting late in the game. reducing population 20% is easily achievable naturally if we could just get the catholics out of the way. a mass worldwide birth control campaign would not cost that much and in a generation could reduce the population without suffering.
