Generally speaking, does your system suck if...

  1. You hold your positions for a greater number of ticks against you than your number of target profit ticks?

    In other words, if your target profit was 5 ticks, then I'm talking about holding a position for 6 or more ticks against you.

    If your target profit is 20 ticks, then holding a position for 21 ticks or more against you.

    etc.?


    Something seems intuitively wrong about that situation to me.
     
  2. 1) You're mostly correct.
    2) It's also important to match your level of risk to the volatility of the market you're trading so you don't get stopped out too easily.
