A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News study has found no evidence, so far, of the kind of late surge toward President Trump among undecided voters that helped produce his unexpected wins in 2016. When pollsters asked themselves how so many missed signs that Trump would win the 2016 election, one factor they identified was a late swing toward him in the last days of the campaign.
McConnell says Democrats have '50-50' odds of flipping Senate control McConnell warns battle for Senate is a '50-50 proposition' https://www.foxnews.com/politics/mcconnell-says-dems-have-50-50-odds-of-flipping-senate Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the chances are "50-50" that Republicans lose control of the upper chamber with just five days to go until the Nov. 3 election. “It's a 50-50 proposition. We have a lot of exposure. This is a huge Republican class," McConnell, R-Ky., said Wednesday during a campaign stop in Kentucky. "There are dogfights all over the country." Republicans are fighting to hold a slim 53-47 majority in the Senate as Democrats target several GOP-held seats they believe are competitive. In order to take back the Senate, Democrats would need to pick up three additional seats and win the White House. (More at above url)
Joe Biden’s path to 270 electoral votes seems pretty straightforward: Hold all 20 states (plus the District of Columbia) that Hillary Clinton carried four years ago, which total 232 electoral votes, just 38 short of the majority threshold of 270. Then win each of the three states that Clinton lost by eight-tenths of a point or less: Michigan (0.2 percentage points) Pennsylvania (0.7), and Wisconsin (0.8). That gives him 278 electoral votes, eight more than needed. Biden will likely also carry two congressional districts that eluded Clinton in 2016, Nebraska’s 2nd District and Maine’s 2nd, giving him 280 electoral votes. That would represent a “skinny” Biden win. https://www.nationaljournal.com/s/711037?unlock=SRT6SBVCJHPBFJTS
Trump has called off plans to appear at the Trump International Hotel on election night and is likely to be at the White House instead,” the New York Times reports. “Advisers had said privately that Mr. Trump was going to appear at his namesake hotel in Washington for an election night party for which his campaign had sent out multiple fund-raising solicitations to his supporters.” “It was unclear why the plans had changed.”
Trump is anticipating a fight to steal the election and will want to be in the hub of government power to use the office of the president to pressure the justice department, courts, election officials, etc. If he doesn’t get wiped out on Election Night, this will get ugly. Expect SCOTUS to intervene...
