Geithner : Americans are "going to have to go back to living within our means."

Discussion in 'Wall St. News' started by ASusilovic, Jul 28, 2009.

  1. America was not founded on the principles of predation... but rather the opportunity to be "free... to pursue your life as you see fit, without excess government intervention".

  4. ...........................................................................................

    Why not ....?

    Rock on....!!!!!!!

    Enough already......

    In your face fascism...."USA style"....

US Govt. has decided to implode vs progress....

Why not a new Mason Dixon....?

    OR

USAA Socialist Republic vs USA Capitalist Democracy.....

Would become similar to North/South Korea....

Let the half that want socialism...have it....

And the other half can have what they want...capitalism....

    Financially separate and distinct....

Since it is so close to 50/50 ?

  5. If you are young and have nothing, "starting over" wouldn't be a penalty.... you'd still have nothing after the "wipe clean".

But if you're older and have accumulated for retirement or a richer lifestyle, you'd be personally "wiped clean". That's not fair. And older folks wouldn't have the time, opportunity, nor energy to "start over".

Nevertheless, there WILL probably be a "wipe clean"... much to the misery of a huge part of our citizenry.

  6. I bet you revel in your righteous indignation, don't you? You know full well that I was referring to two-dimensional extremes. But that acknowledgement wouldn't suit your self-indulgent woe-was-me purpose, would it? Your knee-jerk reaction to your past is reminiscent of Rand's two-dimensional interpretation of the world. With special emphasis on the "jerk" part. (Was she your aunt perhaps?)

You are not the only one who originally hails from Eastern Europe. Get over yourself already.

  7. I can see it now... East of the Mississippi, the USSA with Obama leading the parade.

West of the Mississipi, Ron Paul (or even Jesse "The Body" Ventura") as POTR of the capitalist and freedom regime.

Ooh, just the thought of it gets my giney all a tingle...

    :D

US has always been a predatory place.
Obviously the capitalist predators were more subtle in days gone by, until they went too far by reaching out globally too quickly at the expense of middle america.

Middle america is still the mule of the global reach and will be for another two decades I would imagine. The difference now being that the gov. is going to pick on their bones in a very unsubtle way.

How about live within their means, "and pay taxes". Oh, wait a minute, paying taxes doesn't apply to Geithner. Silly me.

  10. "Facing the first real rough patch of his presidency, President Obama and his supporters are once again resorting to a tried-and-true tactic: attacking George W. Bush and Dick Cheney."
