I was curious if there is a difference in quality for dual head cards that actually have two heads versus the one's that use a Y-cable?

I am considering the PNY quadro nvs 280, and was curious if it is as good as some of the other cards that actually have two heads like the Matrox G550? Heh, well, i guess that could be a bad example since the PNY280 has more ram than the G550...

  2. Y cable is irrelevant. It's just a cabling issue to reduce the size of the connector on the back of the card. There are two seperate DVI channels. In the case of the NVS 280, probably so they can fit the half height card into low profile PCs.

The Quadro NVS 280 has been "best in class" for video cards for the last several years according to Display Mate.

Also, Matrox workstation cards consistently rate highly.

Got the system yesterday, it came with 1 DVI and 1 VGA, both monitors setup perfectly with same resolution (1680x1050). I have to tell you -these 20" wide Dell monitors are incredible...i am never going to the square ones again:)
