GBA's "2021 Stock Phantasma"

Discussion in 'Stocks' started by stonedinvestor, Jan 1, 2021.

  1. One thing I have learned through many years doing this is when you're hot re look at your lists from the week before, scraps of paper here and there and on sheets with other stocks that worked there may be one that slipped through...

I'm in the solar game! When steel goes down thIs stk wilLL dOuble... :)

ROVR is doing a short squeeze.
They go up, they come back down.
If you can time the entry/exit, you can make $'s.
One thing is 100% on this one, unless wsb's or reddit go completely ham, it'll be below $12 by w/i 2 months.

FARM is ok. It'll bounce around for a bit. Up 8% today, down 4% tomorrow....

Give me an 8% move on a stock that averages 1M shares/day, because those kind of moves stick.

After no earnings announcement this morning, I see Ameritrade is now showing 09/08/21 as the date.

Shares out of favor, large current dividend, John Malone factor (Warren admires him!), etc. Regardless, my Gnome hears a whale is accumulating the name."

Yeah Josh Brown called it out. He said didn't know what was going on, but he pointed out it was up significantly in the last few days. Which is not in fact a true statement. It basically flatlined at $16 for the 2-1/2 days prior to his remark. The short interest was high on Tuesday, higher yesterday, and odds are higher this morning. Then he throws the stock a bone which he has had a position in since at least $25 I think.... a few folks buy when they hear his comment, it starts climbing, the shorts panic and up it goes.

Don't get me wrong, I like the company, I brought it to this thread at $13 or $14 and watched it run to $24 during spac-mania.

So... we'll see what happens. I think you did well selling when you did, but that said, the more momentum folks that notice it, the higher it will go.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Stoney!!!!

Quanta Services closed at $114. Up 12% on 3.4M shares.

And just to prove what a GREAT stock pick it was back at $35 and then again in the $90's a few weeks ago keeping with my grid thesis that absolutely no one anywhere was talking about when I first brought it up and now its common talk daily on CNBC.... (I think my first post regarding the need to beef up the grid for the inevitable EV surge was a few weeks prior to my recommendation of ABB at $28... which is a behemoth but continues to climb slowly, and set new all time highs) ... but the point is.... no other company in the world could announce they are buying a company for $2B+... and their stock jumps 12% that day.
The acquirer ALWAYS sells off on a big deal like that.
The acquiree goes up, but never the acquirer.
Look what they did to Salesforce when it bought Slack.
Not apples to apples really, but there's dozens of other examples out there too.

All that said, it will pull back now. That goes without saying. But over time, just like when I flagged it at $37 a few years back, and just like ISRG, slow and steady ultimately wins the race. Stocks like Rover... they shoot up on hype, but in the end fundamentals ALWAYS win.

Oh and PS there master... who was it that flagged our perennial dog FINALLY on the move this week at $29?

QURE closed today at $31.25, up 6% and I doubt this time its going to do much giving back. But we'll see on that one.

All this.... and I never once look at SA or Motley Fool or any other source for ideas.

    Respectfully yours...
    -the master savant.

    EDIT.....
PPS.... Copart.... Earnings next Wednesday. It closed at $145.
My advice on this one has changed.
Close it now and buy in after earnings.
It should have went up on this hurricane and the flooding in the Northeast. I think it's gonna sell off.
Still a great company. But lets get it at $130.
