How to hedge your portfolio against market crashes >> Since the US stock market are overvalued I guess its the time to seek hedging the risk
why's it overvalued? we're on the precipice of never before experienced global economic growth. The end is not near my friend, trust me. Wait for pullbacks, and then BTFD every time.
Where did the term lead balloon come from? It is a good one. My wife & son were kind enough to give me a cell phone for a combo father's day and upcoming Birthday present. I had a complete melt down. You would of thought they handed me a radioactive rock.
Timing is everything with the market. earnings seasons have their own flavor. The last one was I don't care how much you beat by you are still expensive. If you were a tech stock and beat not by 4 cents but by 34 cents- nobody cared it was a wasted reporting season. What will the flavor of this reporting cycle be? Obviously still to be determined but my guess now with the recent Fed activity is real growth WILL be rewarded this time and we are within a time period when YOY comps are still favorable. I believe this earnings period may be the last one in which the stars align like this.~si
Stoney, I'm gonna let you in on a little secret buddy... now of course you think you know everything (you don't btw), so I'll write this for other folks whose eyes may land here, folks serious about long term wealth creation utilizing a portfolio of various vehicles, one of which should be stocks. Quarterly earnings are the most over-hyped dog and pony shows of all time. Not so much by the companies themselves, but more so by the likes of CNBC feeding into our culture's ever growing and insatiable appetite for daily drama. It's friggin stupid. And they all do it, every one of them. Sensationalize, sensationalize, sensationalize. Its good for ratings, who can blame them? I enjoy it too, but in the end if you're not a short term trader, ya gotta see the bigger picture here. One or two quarters does not define a great company. This constant emphasis on "analysts' estimates" every quarter is the dumbest thing of all time. Oh... and not to mention, they're all well aware of that. Far be it from anyone to perhaps game that on certain stocks(?) Gasp! Noooo... that could never happen. This game is run by nuns and boy scouts. Shame on you vz. Its like this... our economy ebbs and flows over time. Things happen. Inflation, energy, pandemics(!), terrorism, 90,000 ton iron-tampons blocking the Suez Canal, whatever, you name it... its always something. Always. Markets climb a wall of worry. So the secret I was gonna share Stoney... its easy. You do your homework and you find great companies that will be around in 5, 10, 15 years. Then you do in fact play the "quarterly earnings game". You hope and pray those companies say something that the herd of analysts don't like and a huge sell-off ensues. That's when you step in and buy. Little by little, company by company. Then you just let time do its thing. ~vz
The Aliens are happy today Van. One of the oldest living human beings without a cell phone in a developed country now has one. Consequently I have lost my go-to dinner party conversation. For some reason Van I have been blessed with incredible market timing. So yes I do know everything. I can't help that. At heart I am a contrarian always have been and that's the easiest way to understand a market. When everyone is telling you one thing -- don't do it. It's the dangers of group think somethi9ng I have railed about at ET for tens of years. We are getting to some debt levels to GDP that I have not encountered before in 30 plus years if intense investing. There are movements in the Muni market that worry people that I do not understand. So I stick to the Fed watch which I excel at. I find it all very interesting. I know you go back Van- Alan Greenspan's briefcase. Last week the Fed did a very good job. maybe too good? There will be 12 Fed speakers this week. My guess they now walk it back. Having achieved what they wanted with the stupid Dot Plot now at least you can't say you weren't warned but geeze we have a year here-- lets stop going sideways.
<<<NEXT WEEK'S BEST IDEA>>>LMND $103.85 A stock that caught my eye last week was Lemonade. Of course I was making lemonade non stop, IT HELPS WITH THE Sickness so that's part of it But on down days LMND looked stable or up. Chart is fun as well> Chart Events Bullish pattern detected There was no news. So I took it as someone sees value here in a sexy name that used to be $188. This is the type of stock we want to be in if I am right about a different reaction to tech earnings this QTR to last. I will be asking Van's permission to add this as a trade I think. We both kind of like the idea of the company. ABNB- Really surprised this isn't $200>> Domo Introduces New Domo Everywhere Offering. Props to Domo 52 week high.
