  1. TheBronco IIis a light pusher-prop design powered by a single turbroprop engine. Its name is an homage to the twin-engine North American RockwellOV-10 Bronco, but the only thing the two aircraft really share is a general high-wing, tandem cockpit, twin-boom tail configuration.

Paramount says the much smaller Bronco II has a cruising speed of 218 knots and a top speed of 272 knots. With a stall speed of just 62 knots, the aircraft is also capable of flying very slowly and quietly over a particular area for a protracted period of time. The South African manufacturer also says that one of the planes carrying a total payload of 500 pounds could fly out to a range of 150 nautical miles, orbit there for up to four hours, and then return to base.

  2. Air Combat Command is also set to get two Textron AT-6 Wolverine light attack aircraft, another very mature design, to conduct various networking experiments, another follow-on to the Air Force's most recent light attack aircraft plans, which the service publicly announced it had canceled in February.

The AT-6 looks like a Japanese zero.

In addition to the A-29 and AT-6, armed crop duster designs from Iomax, which are also combat-proven, as well as similar aircraft thatAir Tractor and L3are producing, are almost certain to be among the competing offerings. In 2018, Czech aircraft manufacturer Aero Vodochody and Israel Aerospace Industries, or IAI, said they were interested in pitching a version of the former company's Albatross light jet series to the Air Force for its light attack aircraft effort and they could easily do the same for SOCOM's new program. Textron's Scorpion light jet, which the Air Force has also employed as a sensor test bed, is another possible contender.

    This tech is from 2017

Armed crop duster? Talk about clunky and loud.

Leidos price target raised to $118 from $100 at Argus 08:16 LDOS Argus analyst John Eade raised the firm's price target on Leidos to $118 from $100 and keeps a Buy rating on the shares. The company has outperformed the market over the past three months while also posting a Q1 earnings beat and raising guidance, the analyst tells investors in a research note. Leidos is well positioned to take advantage of Defense spending trends that focus on cybersecurity and data analytics, and while the coronavirus has had a negative impact on its results, Leidos is seeing strong bookings and has just completed an accretive acquisition, Eade adds.

What has to happen for this stock to get what it deserves? Really it's been this way for over a year huge contract after huge contract and no one cares.

LEIDOS IS A GOOD IRA STK.

AOC is sponsoring a bill that requires all new military A/C to be 100% electric by 2023.

Part of it is greener these are all light easily built and maintained craft wit low costs-
energy to create and use will be much less.

The interesting thing about that super gun... is electromagnetic rails is one of the ways rumored for years that UFO's travel. It would be just like us to recover a downed UFO and create a gun instead of exploring space.

  8. Seahawk joins Surface Development Squadron One

Leidos recently finished testing its newest unmanned vessel called Seahawk and transported it from the Mississippi Gulf Coast to San Diego where it was delivered to the U.S. Navy. Seahawk is now part of the Navy’s Surface Development Squadron One, which recently conducted exercises that joined manned and unmanned systems.

Why you should know: Seahawk, an upgraded version of Sea Hunter, is another significant step in the military’s adoption of unmanned platforms that use artificial intelligence to enhance the Navy’s capabilities.

Specifics: In open sea testing, Seahawk behaved as expected in all categories including speed, endurance, and navigation and sensor functions. The 135-foot vessel is designed for long life, durability in rough water and transoceanic range. Its composite hull minimizes damage caused by corrosion, a maintenance concern the Navy often faces.

From the source: “Seahawk is unique because it was designed from the keel up to be unmanned for weeks or months at a time,” said Dan Brintzinghoffer, a maritime systems expert at Leidos. “We didn’t just put an autonomous navigation system onto an existing ship.”

  9. Meet the Bronco II prototype
    [IMG]
    That's a Bad Little Boy!

The Leidos Bronco II, a multi-mission plane loosely descended from the Vietnam War-era OV-10 Bronco, recently advanced to the next phase of the Department of Defense's Armed Overwatch competition.

Aircraft specs:Bronco II is built to meet the need for versatility in the next generation of special operations aircraft. It is designed with a clean sheet approach for special ops missions, making it more effective in many cases than a reconfigured or repurposed aircraft, according to Leidos Vice President and Division Manager Micah Stauffer.

    • Bronco II has six underwing stations, numerous mounting points and an interchangeable module in its belly, which means it can easily equip for a wide range of missions that typically require separate planes.
    • Its small footprint is designed for long-haul transport, which means it fits in a 40-foot shipping container on aC-130 Hercules. Two of them fit in aC-17 Globemaster. It can be reassembled and ready to fly in less than 12 hours.
    • It’s easy to land and safe to taxi in tight spaces, and has an incredible field of view for its air crew and sensors, according to Johnny Alvarez, a Leidos expert and former special ops pilot.
From the source:“The Bronco II is a 21stcentury digitally engineered aircraft, purpose-built for the future of special operations combat support,” Alvarez said. “Its modern digital design also makes it suitable for many other missions.”

If approved and selected for military use, Leidos would expect to manufacture a Bronco II fleet in Crestview, Florida over the next several years. Bronco II is a technical collaboration between Leidos and subcontractorsParamount Group USAandVertex Aerospace.
