Now take a closer look at the revenue growth chart above. Does anything jump out as being odd? The fourth quarter YoY percentage is based on the company's guidance and analysts' expectations of $105M. Sandbagging much? So look back at 2018 and 2019 fourth quarter revenue gains over third quarter numbers and ask yourself the following. Do we really expect HEAR to report flat to slightly down revenue against the 2020 Q3 $112M? I do not think anyone expects a flat quarter, especially since we were all still at home celebrating the holidays with our newly gifted consoles and game gear....

  5. On Friday, Gurley also criticized the recent market tumult and run-up in shares of GameStop Corp., driven by commenters on Reddit Inc. and day-traders on Robinhood Markets Inc. Gurley advocated banning “payment for order flow”—the process of selling trades to market makers for execution, and which is how Robinhood Markets Inc. makes money. “What Robinhood is really doing, I think, is glorifying speculation,” Gurley said on Bloomberg Technology. “They’re not democratizing investment.”

  7. Chip Shortage is spreading and will take down tech-

Chip Shortages Hinder Automobile, PC, Consumer Electronics Production

The semiconductor industry "has run into a wall" with just a handful of advanced foundries capable of making chips to support surging demand for 5G smartphones, next-generation video game consoles and cloud computing and artificial intelligence systems,

Shortages of chips for the automotive industry have forced carmakers to idle factories. Automobile chip suppliers likeMicrochip Technology(MCHP),NXP Semiconductors(NXPI) andSilicon Labs(SLAB) have raised prices and warned of shortages lasting well into this year.

Semiconductor manufacturers have prioritized the production of high-end processors for data centers and PCs. They provide higher margins and revenue, Eric Ross, chief investment strategist at Cascend Securities, said in a note.

There are capacity shortages on the "front end" of semiconductor manufacturing with raw chips. The industry also is dealing with shortages on the "back end" with chip assembling and packaging materials, Ross said.

For instance, the industry is seeing "massive shortages" of widely used ABF packaging substrates, Ross said. ABF stands for Ajinomoto Buildup Film, a resin used in chip packaging. It provides electrical insulation of complex circuit substrates used in high-performance processors.
