  5. Howard Stern Show to be canceled on Sirius XM, The Sun reports 10:24 SIRI

Thank God. Howard hasn't been funny in fifteen years.
Used to be a MASSIVE fan before he dumped his wife.

    THAT ruined the joke.

  6. Is there a connection?/

What does Warren Buffett know that we don’t? The Berkshire Hathaway Chairperson between July 31 and August 4 snapped up millions of shares of Sirius XM —in the news thanks to a report in a tabloid suggesting Howard Stern‘s 20-year run as a host could be concluding when his contract expires later this year.

According to a Form 4 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Berkshire Hathaway, led by Buffett, reported substantial additional purchases of Sirius XM Holdings Inc. common stock on three dates within the last week.

On July 31, two transactions were made. The first sees BH obtain 1,977,837 shares of “SIRI” at $21.0436 each, and purchase some 85,389 shares at $21.4305 each.

Then, on Friday (8/1), BH obtained 1,930,000 shares at $21.0298 each.

Finally, a fourth transaction was consummated on Monday, giving BH 1,037,199 additional shares at $21.6235 each.

How much did all of that cost? The total estimated value of Berkshire Hathaway’s Sirius XM purchases is $106,466,126.

With these purchases, Berkshire Hathaway’s “SIRI” holdings now total 124,807,117 shares. BH is by far the biggest institutional investor in Sirius XM, and as of March 31 had 35.57% of the company’s outstanding shares. The next-largest institutional investor with shares of Sirius XM is The Vanguard Group, with 5.86% interest as of the end of Q1 2025.

The share purchases came just before The Sun‘s U.S. edition on Tuesday published an online report suggesting Stern’s show is “to be cancelled” when his beefy $100 million contract ends later this year.

Stern is 71 years old, and the news organization quoted unnamed sources as saying an agreement to keep his program’s archives available to Sirius XM subscribers is in the works.
