  2. gummybear advisors is incredibly saddened by the death of imagined Board Member Clark Gillies. The news struck hard. Clark was there when we started our run here at ET with the Phantasma thread. There every step of the way. This is a terrible blow.

  5. <<THE CLARK GILLIES MORNING REVIEW>>

Prologis price target raised to $170 from $164 at RBC Capital 09:33 PLD
Hamid is a cool CEO. This is a strong company for now.

    IRA WATCH LIST> PLD

CF Industries price target raised to $75 from $73 at RBC Capital 09:31 CF RBC Capital analyst Andrew Wong raised the firm's price target on CF Industries to $75 from $73 but keeps a Sector Perform rating on the shares. The analyst states that he expects a solid quarter and positive outlook from CF, supported by strong nitrogen market fundamentals, but his neutral stance reflects greater variability in nitrogen prices and a relative valuation view to his other fertilizer coverage.

Bank OZK price target raised to $53 from $48 at Truist 09:01 OZK Truist analyst Jennifer Demba raised the firm's price target on Bank OZK to $53 from $48 but keeps a Hold rating on the shares after its Q4 earnings beat. The company's healthy lending pipelines and asset sensitivity should offset elevated loan paydowns and inflationary wage pressure, but shares are still close to fairly valued, the analyst tells investors in a research note.

Steel Dynamics(NASDAQ:STLD) is a relatively new steel company, founded in just 1993 and dedicated to modern electric arc furnaces that use recycled scrap metal with the latest technology. Because of its environmentally friendly, low-cost business model, Steel Dynamics has achieved above-average utilization and positive free cash flow every year over the past decade except 2020, which was obviously an extraordinary year. Yet even 2020 would have been free cash flow positive had the company not been building its brand new flat roll mill in Texas.

By the way, that flat-roll mill, which took three years and $2 billion to build, just came online in the fourth quarter of 2021 and will increase Steel Dynamics' future production by about 25%. With increased steel capacity and those elevated capital expenditures now behind the company, look for Steel Dynamics to generate even more free cash flow than its recent past.

From 2015 through 2020, Steel Dynamics averaged $1.2 billion in free cash flow, adjusted for the increased investments in the new Texas plant. Through the first three quarters of the boom year of 2021, Steel Dynamics had already generated more than $2.3 billion in free cash flow and would have reached $3.3 billion had it not been for the final spending on the Texas plant.

That's against a market cap of just $11.7 billion today. And even though prices have moderated from their summer highs, Steel Dynamics still trades at only 4.7 times next year's earnings estimates. Meanwhile, the company is striking a nice balance between debt paydowns, share repurchases, and a dividend that currently yields 1.74%. However, on the recent conference call with analysts, CFO Theresa Wagler hinted that the dividend could be raised in early 2022, although she didn't commit to any specifics.<----------

  8. Splunk upgraded at BTIG, sees 35% upside from current levels

    Splunk On My Chin....

    • Splunk (NASDAQ:SPLK) is getting an upgrade from BTIG, with the investment firm noting that recent channel checks are "improving" and the company is "turning a corner with its cloud product and observability platform."
    • Analyst Gray Powell raised his rating to buy with a $155 price target, 35% higher than current levels, noting that the San Francisco-based software company has a "few dynamics" that could help move the stock higher with a higher trading multiple.
    • "Specifically, we like the accelerated mix shift to cloud," Powell wrote in a note to clients. "We also see potential for GAAP revenue to better align with ARR trends going forward. And we think Street models significantly underestimate the potential for SPLK’s free cash flow and Rule of 40 score to inflect higher in FY23. If we are right on any of these factors, then SPLK likely deserves a higher multiple than its current ~5.5x 2023E EV/recurring sales vs. closest peers at 7.0x."
